hahaha, thats what i was thinking.

i think gomez is a good fight for cotto. he needs a fight to showcase in. it will raise his stock in the USA, cuz even the fringe fight fans here know about Gomez, and should provide for some good action. Gomez isnt a bad fighter, just not on Cotto's level. it should be fun while it lasts.

      Cotto KO 7/8.

floyd beat a shot gatti (which a lot of the floyd boys said was a big win for him), floyd beat a blown up jw, called ricky hatton. cotto's competition at welterweight has been at least as good as floyds. if floyd does not fight cotto within 1 or 2 fights he will go down as being scared of cotto.

I dont like the hyprocrisy in this one, I was one of the people who has critise PBF in the past and am not going to defend Cotto in this one because that would make me a Hyprocrite like some of the Boxing writers and people on this site.

I totaly agree with the bold! This is a waste of time for both fighters.

If Cotto/Margarito happend tomorrow it wouldn't land the winner a shot at DLH or Mayweather anyways, I see it as Arum trying to get Cotto the same exposure by fighting someone a little less risky!!!! Gomez is a reality tv star and well liked by the Contender followers, so it might get Cotto a little exposure and Margarito is a great fighter but not well known outside the boxing world. But maybe if they both win, with Judah and Gomez having alot of fans, the winner of the Cotto/Margarito could get a chance at DLH/Mayweather winner, even though us boxing fans know Cotto/Marg is the better fight its just better exposure for both fighters to do it this route if they ever want the chance at DLH/Mayweather!!!!

I keep hearing this from people but I can't understand how Gomez would bring Cotto anymore exposure than he already has. He fought Shane Mosley for chrissakes. I know the general consensus here is not that Gomez is bigger than Mosley. Gomez fighting Cotto gives Gomez the exposure, not the other way around and if that isn't true, then the people who watch the contender are worthless. How can they watch that garbage and not real boxing. I'm sorry, but fights aren't supposed to have cheesy action packed music going on to amp up the intensity of a bout. That show is lame, regardless of if it produces legit fighters.

Agreed, but in reality boxing just ain't that big outside it's fan base, good fights cost $$$ even if they are on HBO (alot of people don't have HBO, Showtime) and the contender was on channel 5 when Gomez was on there and he's fought a bunch on ESPN so he has followers, even chicks followed that contender ****. Me as a boxing fan says Cotto shouldn't have to go this route but this commercialized **** is whats going down in America right now so it's a good look, should be an easy fight that will get him exposure just from ESPN.com alone since Gomez is a contender star!!!!
