I have no problem with this fight but if this was PBF this site would have crash down with dumb threads but its okay to make excuse for Cotto? Why Cant Cotto fight margarito straight away without another tune up? They both fought on the same card in November so why did Arum need another Tune up/Build up fight for Both fighters?

I dont like the hyprocrisy in this one, I was one of the people who has critise PBF in the past and am not going to defend Cotto in this one because that would make me a Hyprocrite like some of the Boxing writers and people on this site.

Floyd is in an entirely different position than Cotto. There is no hypocricy.

you are correct sir. At least on Hatton, he should've been included, and Floyd's record at 3-0. That was an oversight on my part.

Baldomir isn't ranked in the top ten of any division by BoxingScene, that's why he was not inlcuded.

Of course we can Cotto some slack, and immediately drop all talks of anyone dodging him at the same time.
Well said, I've never accused anyone of ducking Cotto. A Mayweather-Cotto not yet happening has more to do with Floyd and Arum beefing with each other more so than either of the fighters not wanting to fight the other.

Cotto-Margarito would be the best course of action, I agree. But it's a fight HBO (and probably Top Rank as well) will want to put on PPV, and looking at HBO's schedule now, they already have FOUR PPV's scheduled between now and May 3. If everyone could guarantee that Cotto-Tony would land on regular HBO (or Showtime, or any non-PPV outlet), then sure it should be next. But nobody's going to put up that kind of coin just to "give back to the fans." So we instead get a non-PPV prelude-to card.

Where Floyd catches crap is, he's the welterweight champ, but has yet to defend against an actual welterweight. And chances are, that statement will still ring true come end of 2008.

Arum wants Cotto-Margarito at the MSG on June...and yes Margarito fought on Novermber, but it was to get him some easy wins since he had just lost to Paul.

No offense but posts like these are the most annoying because what you fail to realize is that Floyd HAS taken easy fights to get to where he is. And whats even worse, you're neglecting the fact that this is a tune up fight for his fight with Margarito. Who was Shambra Mitchel a tune up fight for? Who was Carlos Baldomir a tune up fight for?

What is the difference if he fights someone else before Margo? I would love to see Floyd fight someone before a big fight because Im a boxing fan.

The **** is wrong with you people?

Quite simply because Margarito is already booked to fight Judah.

When you post replies show some sense mate..Its post like your that makes people think Some people like you are hypocrites, I didnt know fight Baldomir was suppose to be a tune up? I dont care for PBF but wasnt Baldomir the linear champ at 147 at the time of the fight? Sharma Mitchell can also be called a tune up for PBF going into his fight with Judah since both were Southpaws.

The guy who wrote the article has already explain in a better way that your reply to my post so no need to attack me over my post.

I'll put everything on Cotto, if there is a moron out there who will take that bet... just let me know.

Anyway, it was a good article. Finally a thread worth postring on. I needed the Holidays Break from the site. Too much bull**** threads and same old, same old. Besides, HALO 3 is absorbing all my free time... lol.

I wished Cotto fought a better opponent, like Margarito, PBF or Oscar... but as stated. Gomez is better than Collazo, or any other boxer available.
