Yeah but Holmes was around that weight 5 Fights before the Tyson one, he was 222 for Spinks I, 223 for the Spinks rematch, 223 for his fights against Scott Frank, Bey and Williams

...Holmes bought into the hype and it cost him like the others. Plus, he was just a little too slow and that was bad news against Tyson in his prime. I don't credit Tyson a ton for that win.

          Just joking but come on.

Also when you lose to a friggin' LHW you are DONE. No matter how close the fights were, Holmes in his prime would've knocked Spinks out.
So suddenly its not a stoppage just because Duran quit? Okay from now on I guess if a fighter quits the guy should'nt get a TKO win since he couldn't stop him

Yes but you said that Duran was stopped before as if he was knocked out.

Duran had never been even close to being knocked out, people thought his chin was made of stone just like his hands were. Hearns KO'd him out cold.

That's why it was impressive. No one put Duran out for the count in over 100 fights except Tommy Hearns, not even William Joppy when Duran was 50 years old.

I think Spinks simply got hit harder than he ever had before in his life. I also think going into the ring he knew it was his last fight. He made about 20 million that night.

Of course Tyson gets credit for beating Holmes! Before Holmes retired, I remember people saying that Holmes deserved the win over Spinks the 2nd time around.

Holmes was NOT prime...but he was good enough to give Holyfield a tough time and beat Ray Mercer.

Tyson destroyed him in 4 rounds, and Holmes was tough as nails when it came to taking punches. It was a good win.
