I forgot about the Castillo fight, I think that fight really put Hatton on the map and I think thats a big reason why alot of people started to praise him. But again, I was shocked at how none of the "boxing writers" pointed out how slow and lethargic Castillo looked. I think they were too happy that they had a new "hero" to be able to point that out. lol They ran with that Hatton victory and headed straight for a Mayweather fight. And we know the rest..

A lot of people pointed out Castillo, and still wanted him to fight floyd. He was much more prasied then Cotto at the time.

At the time there were really only 3 options for Floyd: Fight DLH again, Fight Hatton, or fight Mosley. DLH didn't want to fight so soon or whatever. Ricky beat Castillo and called him out. And Mosley finally got off his ass when Floyd and Ricky were in negotiations.

Mayweather also called out Mosley before, but Mosley's tooth hurt.

I seriously don't see why you have to discredit for knocking out Hatton. It's a great win, when nobody, but maybe a handfew of people picked him to knock him out. He wasn't a hype job even if struggled with Collazo.

I thought people wrote off Hatton after the Collazo fight, talkin about "Thats what happens when you come to america" etc etc. But yeah, Cotto was still makin his name back then.

But Margarito was ontop of his game back then, too. I still think he should have been in there with Mayweather on Dec 8th. Hatton got exposed against Collazo, and the only people who didnt have Mayweather KO'ing Hatton and actually thought it was a legitmate fight were Mayweather and Hatton fans lol

Just find it amazing how everyone completely forgot about the Collazo fight, but again, I forgot about the Castillo fight. People thought they had a new hero in Hatton when he beat Castillo, that ****ed ****ed their judgement up though lol...I think they wanted Hatton to be the real deal so bad, that they just completely ignored how aged Castillo looked. Wich ultimately lead to the hype-fest that took place before the Hatton/Mayweather fight.

I mean now, after everything thats taken place, how many top welterweights do you give Hatton a chance to beat? seriously..

Actually Margarito wasn't an option because he was looking at a cotto or Williams fight. I'm pretty sure he was already signed to fight Williams by then anyway.

Also many people didn't compare it to the Collazo fight because Collazo was a huge southpaw, who fought nothing like Floyd. Floyd wasn't supposed to be "good with dealing with pressure"

And some people did base the fight off the Collazo fight...for Ricky to be outboxed. Not knocked out. And when people figured Mayweather would win in the later rounds, people said it would be on cuts. Not knocking him down.
Hatton is good and was a credible opponent for Mayweather.

Hatton is a Light Welterweight and has gone up to Welterweight twice ( as far as I am aware ) and stunk the place out , I dont think you will see Hatton at Welterweight again ?

Have I missed something Mayweather v Cotto is it a done deal ?

Dont misread may above post as excuses for Hatton losing as I think Mayweather is class and definatley the best p4p in the world.

No, people are just bored as **** it seems, and are talking about this nonstop like it has been signed.

Roy Jones is fighting in like a week, and there haven't been many mentions about him... it's all Floyd-Cotto. (Yawn)
