If, as the generations pass, the 'modern boxer' has to fight progressively less and less over the course of a career, it makes sense that we see far fewer rematches of fights that were pretty much settled unequivocally first time around.

But throughout history we have learned that one fight doesn't necessarily mean that all questions were answered.
And when you have a fight between 2 guys made at a weight which adds an advantage to one or the other....
Its only fair they meet each other on both their favoured turf.
Like Home & away games in "Soccer" or Football by its correct name.

Hmm I'd pm;y want to see t if it was in the UK @ 140 and with a Ref that was slightly biased/ backed Hatton's style.

Well, that's true, and for the right money there was a rematch. I really like Ricky but I don't see the slightest need for Mayweather-Hatton II. The last three rounds were very convincing. I don't see any reason for a DLH rematch either for whatever that is worth. Plenty of other interesting challenges for Floyd if he wants to take them.
