Tarver is done man. I would pick Pavlik, Taylor, Calzaghe, Bute, Kessler, Dawson and even Mundine against him.

He could beat Lacy, Manfredo and maybe Woods.

Dawson has some weaknesses that could get him knocked out before long, though I don't expect Tarver to be the guy.

Regarding Tarver, it's hard to take his chances at "unifying" seriously when he was so convincingly beaten by the current champ. And with Calzaghe coming into the picture, it's hard to think of anyone else becoming the man.

But let's hope you're right that he has something left. But that can't be more than he used to have, which was likely not enough to top Hop or Calz.

Okay, lets see what happens, i say no, seriously he would kill woods, id go with him over Kessler too, and pavlik, those guys are good in straight lines, not the inside, and they are not as slick as tarver, he isnt ready for dawson yet, but **** me, i cant see how people think he is totally finished when you'd have to give him a shot at every belt holder in that division.

I saw bits of bute the other day, then turned off my tv, not convinced.

There's nothing wrong with fighting "in straight lines," if by that you mean only relying mainly on the jab and cross. Straighter is better, to a point. When other people say "fights in straight lines" they mean something different. Being "slick" gets you killed.

Kessler would murder Tarver, with straight punches.

Lets get real now, Kessler doesnt create angles, its the same thing over and over again,

Jab, lead, jab, lead, block, jab lead,

That **** wouldnt work again tarver who roll and hit him with the left lead, tarver is still pretty decent at blocking straight punches also, the guy who kills tarver will have to be nice on the inside and to the body, which Kessler isnt, i can see where your coming from, but here's the deal. Joe calzaghe took alot longer to work out kessler than what he should have, i knew what kessler was gonna do, he knew what kessler was do, there were even a few unborn foetuses who knew what kessler was gonna do. Kessler is seriously predictable, once calzaghe worked him out, it was game over.

I thought the same of Kessler before the Calzaghe fight. He showed a bit more variation, in the fist four rounds, than he had previously shown. His handspeed is tremendous, he can vary the timing on his punches (before I thought he was like a clock), and he consistently punches hard.

In any case Kessler-Tarver is one of those interesting matchups that is unlikely to happen. There's nothing in it for Tarver and there's also the network (HBO-Showtime) issue.

tarver is class by spots on the outside, but tahts the thing, if he were consistent, no one could get inside, but tarver has always fought in spots, if you back him up and pressure him, he cant do **** but a counter here and there....if elvir muriqui and danny santiago can get inside of him in spots, i cant even imagine how someone like calzaghe would humiliate him......

Dont sleep on tarver guys, the guy clearly has something left in the tank and he can potentially beat any of the big names at 175, he is boxing clever, nice jab, has nice defense when picking off straight shots, creates angles ala James toney and has nasty power in that left hand.
Said this a while back before the woods fight was even made, havent seen the woods fight yet, i wonder if people have a little bit more faith in tarver after last night.
