Yes. If Mayweather defeats Cotto - without the help from a ref he had in the Hatton fight, and without the help he had from the judges in the first Castillo fight - then he deserves recognition and respect.

Yes, if he beats Cotto he will have fought a WW that will dominate the division after he retires. I would give Mayweather all deserved props, because I don't think there's anybody out there from 135-154 that could beat him, except for Cotto and maybe Forrest (but that fight will never happen and wouldn't make sense for MM).
I think MM's win over Hatton was definitely impressive and that was a fight I felt could've gone either way, but I've said from before that fight happened Cotto would be a bigger treat
