Yes. If Mayweather defeats Cotto - without the help from a ref he had in the Hatton fight, and without the help he had from the judges in the first Castillo fight - then he deserves recognition and respect.

I will give Floyd credit. Floyd should fight Cotto and Williams to prove he is the best at 147.

but money may doesn't care about the legacy.. his name says it itself.. only thing he cares about is money.

so the legacy he has is satisfying for him, so be it. will it be satisfying for history? only time will tell.
Duran, Hearns, Hagler, Benitez. Just coming out victorious against those fighters made SRL an ATG.

Yes, if he beats Cotto he will have fought a WW that will dominate the division after he retires. I would give Mayweather all deserved props, because I don't think there's anybody out there from 135-154 that could beat him, except for Cotto and maybe Forrest (but that fight will never happen and wouldn't make sense for MM).

I think MM's win over Hatton was definitely impressive and that was a fight I felt could've gone either way, but I've said from before that fight happened Cotto would be a bigger treat

Not if he beats him by running away all night and pitty patting him once in a while.

He's going to have to wait, for some more consolidation, regarding Cintron and Williams and if Cotto is still on top of the division, then if he beats him, that'll do it. I don't think he wants to fight many more fights.
