hes the best of his generation, he just needs to stay somewhere and dominate, he can proclaim himself the greatest and I think he has the skills but if you don't beat the opposition well thats like using a machine gun to shoot ducks in a barrel.

I think Mayweather is the only fighter in history who has only had to beat one only to prove himself. everyone else had to fight every contender out there or at least most of them.. and they say their is a biased against him if anything there is a biased for him.. imagine if Leonard would have beat like two or three decent names and that only.. where would he be in history?

but money may doesn't care about the legacy.. his name says it itself.. only thing he cares about is money.

so the legacy he has is satisfying for him, so be it. will it be satisfying for history? only time will tell.

There's always a contender, Parody. Do you want everyone to throw their hands up and say the fights don't need to be fought anymore?

Some people will never be satisfied. However Floyd does need to deal with Cotto (as long as he remains unbeaten) to be considered the #1 welterweight of this era. Leonard beat Benitez and Duran, but he still had to beat Hearns to be the undisputed top guy.

I can't say your wrong about that, but you'll have a lot more evidence on your side. To me beating Hatton that decisively was a major accomplishment. It's just that Hatton was never THE man at 147. As long as there is a popular unbeaten fighter like Cotto around, Floyd's business at welterweight isn't finished yet. If he gets rid of Cotto, the voices calling for Williams, Margarito, Berto, etc. will be weaker and start to sound desperate. IMO Cotto is just too much of an elephant in the room for Mayweather to have claimed he is proven as the dominant force at 147 lbs.

you know, when there is no one more to be fought and everyone's been fought then whats the point of fighting?

if all boxers thought the way Mayweather did then we wouldn't have a sport.

Well If Floyd retires after beating Cotto I dont want anyone to ***** about it, he has fought everyone from 130-147 and beat DLH at 154. Cotto is the #1 Contender at Welterweight and if he is still undefeated when floyd fights him, all he can do is retire if he wants too, i obviously dont want him too but no one should complain he has given us great fights with castillo and corrales, dominated superfeatherweight division, beat the man at 140, beat the man at 147 and fighting #1 contender in cotto, had good fights with decent fighters such as hernandez, chavez, and others. He is already a Great but if he beats Cotto he will only add more to his legacy. Him beating guys at Welterweight is a good accomplishment considering he was a super featherweight once, beating guys above his natural weight.

But seriously, he already got my respect.
