WBO Threatens To Strip Juan Diaz, Appoint Katsidis

The WBO has informed Willie Savannah, manager of WBO/WBA/IBF lightweight champion Juan Diaz (33-0, 17KOs), of the possibility that Diaz will get stripped for not fighting WBO interim-lightweight champ Michael Katsidis (23-0, 20KOs) on February 9. [details]

Why Strip Him, They Should Fight For It, I Might Sound A Lil Crazy In Saying This But Ain't That How You Win A Title? Wow, The Game's Changed Alot Since The 80's

this is good. this should happen more often to fix the sport. alot of fighters don't face each other for various reasons and this will get them to fight each other or dump their bogus managers/promoters. Diaz will realize that don king cares more about himself than diaz's career. Don King has more than enough money for 10 life times and it wouldn't have hurt him to let diaz fight katsidis but his personal greed couldn't allow them to fight. Managers are the biggest problem in boxing today.

Yep. It is Diaz's fault for signing with King, who ruins divisions when he's involved.

the problem is that his contractually obligated with Don King. The WBO is trying to force a fight between Diaz and Katsidis which Don King wouldnt be able to take part in promoting. So if any network picks up the fight, Don King will threaten to sue meaning that if they do fight, it wont be televised. Its not worth it for both fighters to face each other if it will not be receiving exposure. There is too much to lose.

I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, BUT DAMN, BOXING IS ALL ABOUT MONEY NOW. GREED HAS TOTALLY TAKEN OVER THE SPORT. I THINK IT'S TIME TO START KICKING OUT THE ****ED UP PROMOTERS.

Is he not responsible for the actions of those with whom he willingly entered into contract? Legally speaking, there could be no grounds for complaints if he's stripped. When you let someone represent you, you're responsible for any actions done under that representation.
