Wlad's next 4 fights may look something like this:

    Sultan Ibragimov
    Alexander Povetkin
    Ruslan Chagaev
    Sam Peter II

Wlad will win all these upcoming bouts and most likely by KO/TKO.
povetkin is fighting Edddie Chambers is'nt he how good is chambers he looks pretty quick good boxing skills from clips ive seen

I thought Mercer took Wlad's punches very well for an old man but obviously at his age he can't compete with the younger men anymore.

Briggs knocked the f outta him though.

The first 2 of those knockdowns against Peter were where Peter wrestled him and then rabbit punched him in the back of the head, apart from that Wlad dominated almost every round.
No there was'nt for the reasons I stated, If it happened before Brewster lost then it would have made sense but the fact is he was coming off a loss, dominated by Lyakovich and inactive in the ring for 15 months which was bad enough, He might as well fought Corrie Sanders after that since "He needed to avenge the loss". I dont know how you can compare an out of prime and grandpa Mercer to the Mercer who fought Lewis, Holyfield, Holmes and Morrison. These versions were way different, he fought those guys almost a decade back.

Eddie Chambers is a good fighter, he fights like a HW Winky Wright, but he is undersized and he lacks power kind of like Chris Byrd.

I see the stronger volume puncher Povetkin overwhelming Chambers and pummeling him into submission in the later rounds. Povetkin by late TKO

Ditto, but would Mercer had won if Briggs had'nt? Mercer was pretty much done not only then but 8 years prior to his fight with Briggs.

I originally thought so... but upon further inspection, it didn't look like Briggs was holding Mercer when he landed those punches (which were on the side of the head, not the back), it just looked like he was beside him.

                I'm not 100% sure though.

So a win over Brewster, who had won 9 of his last 10 fights, with 3 fights in the previous 2 yrs, 2 mo, is meaningless, but a win over the same age guy, with 1 fight in over 2 1/2 years, who arguably lost 3 of his last 4, is not? Okay.

Yes Mercer's fights with Holfield and Holmes were 6 and 7 years prior, but Ray also had 7 straight wins, including Tim Witherspoon, since then, and as I mentioned was very active in the few years leading up to the Wlad fight. As Foreman proved, activity is much more important than age.
