yeah. My views may come off sometimes as controversial.

But this idiot just said that Floyd vs. any UFC fighter would be like his fight with Baldomir.

    lol lol

    What about the kicks, Kball.

You do realize that an amateur kick boxer would probably kick Floyd's leg all things being equal even in a kickboxing match.

There is a lot of ignorant stuff in this thread like always when boxing fans start to talk about MMA, stick to your guns please.

The poster who said you have to train boxing before the age of 10 or something otherwise you won't be successful unlike in MMA is TOTALLY wrong, there are lots of boxer's who have become champions AFTER taking up boxing over the age of 20 because they have a punch and a chin.

And most of those MMA fighters who became successful because of their wrestling background have started wrestling at a very young age too so that kind of makes your argument useless.

Floyd would DEFINETLY woop St. Pierre. That guy is 100% wrestler. People dont wrestle in street fights, they punch. Floyd would knock that fool out cold.
GSP isn't 100% wrestler he was originally a karate fighter turned wrestler/submission specialist. Now he is good at just about everything.

          That was me.

If you really look into it, my points match up. Roy started at 7. Mayweather Sr. has said that Mayweather first laced up the gloves at age 3.

Manchine, in order for you to be a great technician, you have to hone your skills over years and YEARS.

I can list guys like Cintron, Julian Jackson, and Shavers who relied because of great athleticism and a good punch.

But Olympic champs, those guys ALL started young (minus Mercer/Foreman...but those guys are HW's and as we all know HW's require a different skillset to win than lighterweight fighters).

Yes but Roy and Floyd are two of the absolute best boxer's in the planet. You said in order to be even a decent boxer you would have to start at the age of 7 which is simply not true.
Now, to be a great technician, that might require you to be a boxer at a young age but even then there are some exceptions.
Hopkins didn't take boxing seriously (he did box a bit before that) until he went to prison and he was 18 years old at the time.

Yeah, Hopkins boxed quite a bit as a child- extensively. He became the penitentiary champion but was a tournament winning boxer as a kid and mentioned beating golden gloves fighters as a teenager; someone just posted an amazing B-Hop documentary.

I will say that, usually, successful boxers do start earlier- I remember Hasim Rahman would be called out every fight as being an exception, they said he began at 21-22- and look what happened to his clumsy ass.

**I hate to edit...Hopkins was never a Golden gloves champ...he just fought them.**

All of the best fighters of all time have started early.

Leonard, Robinson, Pryor, Mayweather, Hagler, etc.

The HW's are a differnet story. Like I said they require a different skillset.

But the greats still started early. Louis, Ali, Dempsey etc.
