I don't think he was over rated, at one time he was really great, but then later at light heavy(where he was at when Calzaghes bull**** challenge happened) he would let fighters go the distance when imo, he could have ko'd them, this i think made him soft minded. Thinking he can play with any fighter till he found Tarver.

Campas has the "best chin you have ever seen"? you must have missed the fight when his career got WRECKED! at the time, most people were calling him the second coming of chavez and i think he had a record something like 51-0 with 40 kos. and then felix (a relative unknown at the time) came along
and put it on his ass. he was one of the first in a long line of fighters that got ruined by trinidad.........

Also he said he hoped the Calzaghe vs Hopkins fight happens but said if it doesn't then he will buy a ticket to Wales to negotiate for a fight with Joe and when asked if he would fight in Wales he said "I'm There".

              P.s Cheers Rob.
wow, way to take what roy said and twist it fit your agenda huh? Brian
Kenny asked roy why he refused to fight outside the country before but was now willing to fight outside the united states. If that is your definition of avoiding then i guess joe avoided roy too then right?

actually, reading Joes Autobiography, it mentions that a fight between them never happened because they were never fighting in the same weight division at the same time or for very long. I've got his book somewhere in the house, I cant find it or I would have quoted the extract from the book.

Really?...i havnt seen the interview, and assumed the quote was talking about simply fighting Joe C. I can see why he is weary of fighting abroad after the olympics. Im a BIG Joe C fan....but i know had they fought....Joe would probably lose. Sadly the poster who said they werent in the same weight class atthe same time,or atleast not for long..is correct...they also missed each others primes....so it would never have been a 'fair' fight. I dnt think roy is that much more skilled then Joe C...but his athletic ability is what would have got him the win....i dnt see him knocking joe out...i see a UD,maybe a SD...but would have been very interesting to watch...cus i would say Joe C is as good if not better then any1 RJJ faced in his 'pomp'...i still think RJJ would have won..but its always good to see the best being pushed

Yup. Roy wasn't going anywhere outside of the U.S.A. because he was ripped out of a Gold Medal; it made little Roy cry.

Anyway, the poster forgot to mention that Roy was the P4P King at the time, more famous, held a better title, Light-Heavyweight Champion, brought in more money, etc. Even if this was after Roy's DQ Loss, most still considered Roy undefeated and he wasn't about to get ripped off again if it went to a decision. Although, this is Roy's fault. He should have been knocking heads out instead of dragging fights along like another poster mentioned, but they say it's because he didn't want to hurt nobody because of his boy Gerald Mcclellan. If he decided to KO Joe, he wouldn't have to worry about a decision, however, once again, I'm not sure how much Joe was selling where he was, so Joe would still have to come to the States, which he never did.

Now, Roy is willing to go because he said he {Roy} has to prove himself once again after the losses...Joe is above him at the moment so Joe is in the lead position, unlike before.
