That pretty much answers that question. Williams is still being overrated though.

it is my personal opinion that paul williams should call out someone like a miguel cotto since cotto IS the number contender in the division and it would even more definatively set the welterweight division.

right now (in my opinion) its:

          Mayweather on top
          Cotto the number 1 contender
          Paul Williams second best contender

          everyone else.

if willams and cotto fight then its one of them as number 1 contender and it would make the winner a HUGE payday against mayweather.

i think thats the best thing for the division.

we all know mayweather wont fight forever and has limited fights left (no more than 7 in my opinion) so why not make sure he's fighting the best of the best...i say cotto v. williams and mayweather gets the winner...

then from there (should mayweather win) he will be the champ of the division by leaps and bounds over the rest and will most likely look to fighters a division above a below his to cement his legacy.

          anyone agree?

how the **** is that gonna happen when people wont fight him? using your logic williams wont be ready until 2010 and he has to have a 40-0 record. Now is the time. sugar gave winky a shot when nobody knew who winky was. whats the difference? winky had more losses, but was a title holder longer. Paul is undefeated, physically imposing and is about to make his 1st title defense. were you crying when sugar gave winky a shot? "No!!! Winky has not beat a big name yet. He lost to vargas. He doesnt deserve it." Grow up. Either you got the good or you dont.

I think people screaming that Williams is overrated is overrated. feel me? I think its become a habit on the Scene. When a Paul Williams thread is made. Once or Thrice on a certain page of that thread, there is a williams is overrated post. Its kinda like saying that Shaq is losing it cuz he is out of shape. Thats what everybody says, but Shaq is in great shape this season. Not the 380-400 LB monster he was with the lakers. No, Shaq is not as good as he was cuz his body is breaking down. People see Williams take punches and then say he is overrated, but he took those shots and that could be part of the strategy. Hey, you throw 1000 punches it will open you up to take a few shots. This might change when he moves up in weight and fighters punch harder.

Except for the 7 fights left I pretty much agree fully. At the MOST I can only see him fighting 3 times.

That can only work if that was my ACTUAL reason for saying Williams is overrated. People think he can beat Floyd, Cotto, and Cintron with ease because of his freakish attributes. I, however, see it as a much tougher test and I can see Williams losing to Cotto and definitely to Floyd.

well I never said that he beats anybody with ease. These are the best fighters in the world in the best division in the world. I think paul can beat those guys you listed. Cintron would be with ease with Cintron only having a puncher's chance. Cotto would be a really hard fight and FOTY candidate. Mayweather would be interesting and a boring fight, but I have Williams edging out a decision againsdt PBF of all people with PBF smiling and crying and all confident of a victory until the scores are announced and he looks like hagler after the leonard fight.

I think Mosley would loose this fight, but he would get a ton of respect from me and i think other people for taking it. Mosley would have fought the best champions of past and the best of the new. Def HOF in my book, light years ahead of the Golden Boy
