Now though, he may be in over his head.
Agreed, back in the day Roy would have handled him, but now Joe C would take him in a decision.

I agree..it was not really a call out. It was more of a "if the fight is available I would consider it" sort of thing. He did claim he was willing to fly to Wales to make such fight, and politely ribbed Hopkins (who deserved it) for being such fickle negotiator.

Regarding Jones' chances....for the past 5 years or so he just hasn't had the fast footwork that made his style work. His chin is also very suspect, and Calzaghe throws alot of leather...not always with alot of power, but enough that I would predict a late round ko/tko.

All Jones' knows how to do now is back up into the ropes and *occasionally* exhibit his great handspeed.

I feel Roy beats Joe C. easily. No excuses for Roy though if he loses, Roy is only 3yrs older than Joe C. Thats the fight that really matters for each fighters legacy.

Calzaghe would beatdown Jones Jr. and win a UD or maybe even stop him late...he dosen't even deserve a shot at Calzaghe.

RJ's is not RJ of old..agreed...BUT..he is still fast as hell and has SOME of his reflexes.

                  Kessler...Bika...Manfredo.....are statues.

rj will come in and out and show great movement he wont be there for Calzaghe to hit and Roys chin has nothing to worry about against Joe Cals slaps..err punches.

I still think a 38 Roy Jones can beat a 35 year old Joe Cal.

I also believe RJ still has enough power to make Joe Call think twice about throwing so many punches which leaves calz open alot.

I think RJ pulls out a close one....115-113....UD.

Roy is the only fighter between the 2 that has beat other hall of fame fighters. He also has more handspeed & power than Joe C.

                      agree.
joe does not have the power to hurt roy. but i think roys power wont stop joe from throwing punches i think it will mostly be the fact that joe will tire when he catches nothing but air...now i know some one will say that joe doesnt tire, but when you miss your punches you tire faster then when you hit
