Cotto, Top Rank Wait on De La Hoya's Decision

If everything plays out as expected, Oscar De La Hoya will announce his next opponent by the second week of January. Currently, there are two frontrunners to oppose De La Hoya on the tentative date of May 3 - WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and former two-division champion Ricky Hatton. [details]

I think he wants Ricky cos he's enticed by the idea of selling out 80,000 at wemblet stadium. A throwback to the open air bouts of the 80's would be a nice way to go out.

oscar's smart - he'll ask for a catch weight of 144, fight at wembley and sell that **** out.

cotto'll wait for a real threat.

I think I'd rather see Cotto fight Margarito then fight Oscar. Oscar will probably fight Hatton in May (only cuz they'll make so much money together) then make his farewell fight in September with Cotto (cuz by then, provided they both win, the fight will be that much bigger).

                  Oscar cannot fight Hatton!!!

I am going to give Oscar the benefit of the doubt and say that he will not fight Hatton... There is no glory in taking that fight!!! I say he will take on Cotto and make big bucks but also, go out in style... A win would be a great way for the Golden Boy to end his career.
