Williams only has his belt, he is no big name and wouldn't make Floyd enough money. Floyd will beat him easilly, Williams isn't accurate enough with his punches, he just throws. Against a tall guy who fights this way you need a good defense and counter to get inside or lure the big guy in by staying on the ropes. Floyd is a fighter who has mastered this, James Toney did as well but he didn't have the work ethic Floyd has. Williams is also not a skilled fighter, people praise him for his lengthy size and freakish reach, but there's no technique behind him. Just throwing punches actually makes him one dimensional and come 2008 someone will expose him

You have to earn your stripes to deserve a fight with someone on Floyd's level, and Williams has not. He has the jab, height, length, workrate and southpaw stance to give Floyd trouble, and imo, has the best chance of beating him at WW. But to say it would be shutout is completely insane.

He certainly has the stamina to do it, just like he did to Margarito. Floyd's game would be totally thrown off by the tall lefty who is tough, smart, and GAME (note how he won the crucial 12th round vs. Margarito with that bad cut over his eye).

Williams is a superstar in waiting. I love the guy. He could be the most dangerous welterwegiht of all time. He has all the attributes.

But he does not speak out about challening Floyd. Is it because he has the same advisor as FLoyd, the guy named Al Haymond?

Is Haymond focusing on getting FLoyd all the big fights at the expense of the possibly superior Williams? I think Williams is being held back. He has greatness. He is unbelievable what he can do in the ring for 12 rounds. Yeah he had a few off fights, like Clay vs. Sonny Banks and Doug Jones, but at his best Williams is AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. With more potential than Mayweather.

Williams should be more expressive and outspoken about getting the fight with Mayweather, he could dominate him with ease IMO.
I think he already knows Mayweather will duck him and he doesn't want to get the kind of hate Margarito and Cotto get just for calling him out.

Absolutely. Williams has beaten ONE good fighter in his whole career. He was impressive doing it, but that doesn't put him first in line for Mayweather. He isn't a proven draw, and he needs to beat some rated contenders. No doubt that he is the bandwagon fighter of 2007 though.

                  .................

It still remains to be seen what williams can and cannot do........

                  however williams does have weaknesses.................................

and again to me mayweather has gone up in weight more than he should have ..........

and williams would be a very dangerous fight.............but bring williams up 5 weight classes and he couldnt handle it...........

                  this fight will never happen....................

however a fight with cotto will and if he beats him i think it will silence all if not most of floyds critics..........

the fight with cotto is very dangerous as well being that cotto is at a natrual weight.......with talent and heart.............

but most people just want to see floyd lose.......

floyd is not gonna take haphazard fights just to fight...........

this fight with williams is not a money maker...........

and floyd has gone to far up in weight...................

One last fight with cotto and a win versus him to close out a great carrer.....

Wait, don't you have an almost 43 year old Hopkins as your #2 p4p?
