Pavlik's Trainer Anticipates The Old Taylor

WBO/WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) is already in training camp, preparing for his rematch with Jermain Taylor, (27-1-1, 17 KOs) on Feb. 16 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pavlik captured the middleweight crown with a career defining seventh-round stoppage of Taylor in September. The rematch is a non-title affair because it takes place 6-pounds north, at a catch-weight of 166-pounds. [details]

I'm still confused as to why Jermain took the challenge at 166. I know it was tough for him to make 160 for YEARS, but Pavlik will be seemingly even stronger at 166 because he is the taller guy.

I was actually misled by the title. I thought it meant that Loew and Pavlik were expecting the more active, rocket jab, badass Taylor that killed people before he fought Hopkins.

I was like damn, I hope they are training hard then!

Dweins, Hopkins ruined Taylor. He has no confidence in his skills anymore. Sad.

The majority of the people he killed were blown up 154-pounders. Hopkins was his first big middleweight opponent.

            Attagirl Poppa.

I remember watching his first televized fight against former olympian Raul marquez. marquez really had no business being in with him.

The same with eduardo later on.

Apart from the weight, I think he gets a better purse split at 166 where there are no belts involved.

Right right... no doubt that he was taking advantage of little fighters, but it is clear that he has gotten away from his jab, which was his main weapon.

He just seems like an unskilled piece of **** now... it reminds me of Hamed's shift from decently skilled to showing less skills than Mayorga.

                  That would make sense.

just so you guys no the weight isnt gonna really mean ****, because they are both gonna balloon back up to 170-175 right after the weigh ins, just like they did at 160, they are gonna both end up weighing the same they did for the first fight anyways. The first fight the night of the fight pavlik was 170 taylor 173. Its gonna end up being the same this time.
