    Knockout 'ARTIST' vs Big Puncher

The words knockout artist are starting to be thrown around and given to every boxer who scores a lot of ko's but they are not all the same.

A big puncher is someone who hits hard and beats you into a ko with their power, young George Foreman,David Tua,Ernie Shavers.

A knockout artist is someone who gets knockouts at any given moment from any part of the ring at any given condition.
A ko artist can get a knockout from the back foot or off the ropes.
A knockout artist scores ko's with precision rather then brute force and sets the punch up which at times makes it look like just a normal punch rather then a big ko's punch.
    Julius Jackson,Roy Jones,Ali.

    Anyone agree, disagree ?

some guys, maybe alot of guys are both though. The big puncher who knocks guys out in almost every fight can alot of times set up the artistic KO.

Yeah I forgot that part Foreman vs Morrer fought a ko artist type fight but young Foreman was more brawler big puncher.

To me there's no real difference.
I think the boxers who have aesthetically pleasing (artistic) knockouts are called knockout artists and the boxers who have power but don't have sweet looking knockouts, rather just pummel (punch) their opponent into submission are called punchers because their KO's are 'ugly'.

I would call someone like Jones and Tyson KO artists and Foreman and Shavers punchers.

Both KO artists and punchers punch hard, I don't think someone like Ali was a knockout artist or a puncher.

For example look at Jones' hands behind his back KO and compare it to Foreman's KO over Ron Lyle.

'Artist' means creative, Roy Jones behind the back ko of Kelly was artistic.
Jackson knocked people out with punches that looked like they wouldn't hurt let alone knock someone out cold.
Ray Robinson ko'd people while walking backwards.

Ali Liston was art,Ali Foreman was art.

Exactly. Now compare these KO's to Pavliks, Foremans and Shavers' KO's. You will see the difference. Not saying these three didn't have some beatiful knockouts but mostly it's just pure power and overwhelming pressure, not technique and quick handspeed.
