I am entirely ignorant of South Korean traditions, but would fighting on Christmas Eve be significant in anyway there?

Christmas is celibrated there but its not a huge holiday or anything. The country is more than half christian though.

Thats crazy that he managed to hold on for the win. I hope this guy gets better.

Former WBC mini-flyweight champion Yo-Sam Choi remains in a coma and in critical condition after undergoing an emergency two-hour brain operation on Tuesday night in Seoul, South Korea. Choi collapsed in the ring following a points win over Heri Amol. Dr. Park Hyeong-ki told the Korea Times "Right now we are relying on drugs to relieve intra-cranial pressure and stop the bleeding, but we can't say he is in any better condition than he was yesterday. It will take at least a week to tell whether he will ever regain consciousness."
