Being a finisher and a KO artist are not mutually exclusive abilities. In fact, they're interrelated. While it's implied that a KO artist can take you out with one punch, he also has the ability to put an opponent away as soon as he's in trouble.

It could be argued that, in their prime, the fighters listed below were the 10 best finishers ever.
        1. Mike Tyson
        2. George Foreman
        3. Joe Louis
        4. Sonny Liston
        5. Rocky Marciano
        6. Jack Dempsey
        7. Sugar Ray Robinson
        8. Roberto Durán
        9. Michael Spinks
        10. Carlos Monzón

Hmm... Let's explore that: What's your definition of a "finisher?"

According to my definition of the term, a finisher is a fighter who has the ability to dispatch his opponent once he has him in trouble. He doesn't have to be a KO artist or a power puncher, as long he can recognize and exploit his opponent's momentary vulnerability toward a fight stoppage.

Based on that definition, I place Monzón in my 10th. slot.

I appreciate your respect for my opinion, but you fail offer an argument to support your claim that Monzón was not a finisher.

I don't know where Hearns is at the moment, but wherever that may be, I hope he's okay. That said, it could be argued that he's among the elite finishers in the game, although I neglected to include him.

I'm sorry but Monzon just wasn't a finisher.

His fights were all snoozers. All consisted of jabs followed by straight rights and clinching when the opponent tried to tie up.

I'm actually wondering myself where you got the idea that Monzon was a finisher?

Dropping someone from the 10th floor is a hell of a finish.
