RJJ was never seriously troubled by anybodys power when he was in his prime , its not a coincidence he happened to be 34 + when he got KO'D ,Lets not forget what Marciano did to an old Joe Louis he was Ko'd himself when he was an old man ,J C Chavez was dropped by Frankie Randall & no one expected that to happen, age plays a big part

There's no question about Roy's speed in his prime. The problem is your comparing a 168-175 pound Roy against a heavyweight monster.

And of all the accolades I have heard about Roy, I don't ever think I heard from knowledgable pro's that he had good technique. The fact that he was so damn quick enabled him to do a ton of things wrong and get away with it. He had blistering combinations and his speed in his prime was something else.

I think he would slow down considerably from the first hard right he took, and then the second one he would patiently wait for the ambulance while staring at the celing with poop in his shorts because he would've lost all bodily control at that point.

For a start I had Hatton pegged as the underdog from the very moment the fight was signed, I was rooting for him and I was picking him to win as the ********. I never considered Hatton to be a better fighter than Mayweather, and I repeatedly said that Hatton would lose nine times out of ten. I was wrong in that I thought he had Mayweather's number for ONE FIGHT but we're all wrong at some point or another. Unless we only ever pick the favourite, but where's the fun in that?

So now you've compared Ricky Hatton to Joe Louis, how ****** must you feel?

louis has to get to Jones JR thats the biggest problem he would have to overcome & the guy just aint good enough Technially/skillwise to close that range without getting hit hard & often with counters ,im not sure if anybody realises but RJ would be allowed to hit Louis aswell
In a 20ft square ring Louis will get to Jones, and Louis was one of those rare heavyweights who went to the body hard and often. Jones' athleticism would only get him so far and sooner or later he would have to face up to the Brown Bomber's massive power and not inconsiderable skill. Louis goes to the body and then to the head and knocks Jones silly.

Roy Jones Junior would find his prime leaving him very quickly once Louis started to land. Joe had one-punch power that Roy never did, and had far better boxing fundamentals. You are making the mistake of confusing flashiness with skill, and Joe was a skilled fighter. You think that Jones would beat Louis? Do you think that Jones could have beaten, for example, Lennox Lewis, Wladimir Klitschko, Evander Holyfield, Mike Tyson, George Foreman, Joe Frazier etc? Because Joe Louis is the kind of fighter that is mentioned along with the names I have just given. Roy Jones Junior at heavyweight is not.

Oh and it's well worth pointing out that once Jones lost a second of speed he was proven to be extremely chinny. Imagine a fighter who can jab as hard as Tarver can punch? You think that Joe wouldn't land a single jab?

That was as unique a description of a proposed fight as I think I've ever read.
You made me laugh out loud.

I don't know what else to say.

RJJ like Ali is one of those guys who could do everything wrong because he was quicker than everyone he fought. Junior's technique was always very sloppy, he was never a good technical boxer, and this was borne out when he'd lost a step and was outboxed by Antonio Tarver and outboxed by Glen Johnson. As soon as his physical advantages left him he was pretty much knockout fodder. Add to that he never fought a seriously skilled and powerful fighter, especially not a heavyweight, at any point in his career.

Roy Jones Junior had bad technique but enough athleticism to overcome it. Joe had great technique and he earned his great technique the hard way with his knockout loss to Schmeling.

Joe would have been able to compete with the best heavyweights of any era. Roy would have been able to compete with the best light heavies. Joe still wins.

Sorry i missed the bit where i compared him to Joe Louis i questioned your poor judgement ,u sound like the idiot trying to make things up that i aint said

i dont think joe Louis would have beaten Tyson ,Foreman,Lewis ,Holyfield NO & just because some dinosaur thinks Joe Louis should be mentioned above those names that dont make it right ,everybody has there own criteria

IMO Ali could have beaten any of the modern greats though because he had a fluid style he could jab on the move throw 1 2 counters on the move he could jab effcetively & he was fast had a great chin & was brave as hell

If Max Schmelling could stop a 27-0, 22 year old Joe Louis, then anything is possible. Plus Joe was around 200 at his best, a 194 lb Jones would be competitive. Also, Jones seemed invincible till he was 35 and finally stopped, his speed till then was amazing and allowed him to avoid huge shots.

In the end though, Joe was a natural (if rel small) heavyweight, and one of the greatest ever, so you would have to give him the edge. I like Jones in a heads up against any other SM and LHW in history though.
