He goes for the high reward no risk and that doesn't prove nothing. If he could get a young undefeated (Williams) to his record he will be in his right to challenge PBF if PBF doesn't retire for good. Cotto is similar to Hatton and Hatton was also similar to Hoya in the way they fought (inside fighters). Yeah i know Hoya is more versatile but he quit his jab and went for the body as did Hatton. I don't know what good would Cotto bring to Floyd's legacy and if he feels tired of boxing he should retire period. There's no recepy for losing better than not being motivated and not fit to fight. It would be a shame to boxing (altough it has been that way for almost all fighters) to have a great champion lose vs a young lion not because the young lion is better, but because he is younger. What other factor can explain why Cotto wants no Williams but PBF? Don't get me wrong, if they fought today Mayweather would beat Cotto in similar faction he beat Hatton but in 2 years or so coming of a long break i dunno. Cotto is kinda of a stain in boxing in my view because he would be beat vs a prime Zab Judah or a prime Shane Mosley. I think everyone knows that and that's why he fought Shane when he was 36 coming off a 9 month break. Still noone thinks Cotto is better than prime Mosley. If PBF is smart he either fights Cotto now and doesn't take a break or forget Cotto completly and ignore the Hype. Save your money, invest wisely and make more via Mayweather productions (with the help of Golden Boy productions). Think you've earned your rest.
Malignaggi and Torres come to mind as two undefeated prospects he fought not long ago that are roughly his same age, they are BOTH still ranked as top Jr. Welters. Cotto could KO Williams tomorrow and it would not really mean much. It would be no different than when he beat Carlos Quintana, Torres, or Malignaggi. His wins over Shane Mosley and Zab Judah mean more than beating any of those your undefeated prospects. Cotto does not need Williams to call out Floyd, or anyone for that matter.

Oh and by the way, he took on the 36 year old Mosley because it was the biggest fight and arguably the toughest fight he could take at the time short of fighting Floyd Mayweather. Hell I still remember how many people thought Mosley to be the only welter with a real chance at beating Floyd.

you should hook up with beauty, you guys would make a good couple.
You sure do like to highlight things in pink. Don't get me wrong, I think your kind should be allowed all the rights of heterosexuals, but please stop trying to play gay-matchmaker.

Also, you were trying to talk Quintana up to make Cotto's victory over him sound more impressive (no need to bull**** about your motive). But the sad fact is that Quintana has never beat anyone of significance in the WW division.

Mayweather could seal his legacy by fighting Cotto. All his critics point to the fact he didn't fight the top guys at 140 and 147. He needs to fight Cotto then I have no problem if he retires and call himself great.

Exactly, lol I mean the welterweight division is hot right now and Mayweather runs away from it? Now? When he finally has a chance to fight a real fight? What part of the game is that!?

No one's saying Floyd has to fight everyone and anyone, just SOMEONE. No over hyped opponents, just an actuall opponent. Then he can do whatever he wants. Retire, Rap lol, dance on TV again, lol whatever he wants.

Yeah, the welterweight division has a lot of talent and all he's fought is Mitchell (past his prime and doesn't belong at welter), Judah (coming off a loss that makes a win over him worthless), Baldomir (had the title, but everyone knew he was lucky to win it), and Hatton (good fighter, but not his best at 147). A fight with Cotto would shut up all the critics, but this is looking a lot like the Margarito situation. I'm just waiting for Arum to say he's offering $15 million and Mayweather turned it down. lol

Nobody ever in history stepped up 3 weight classes and cleaned out the division, nobody... that's natural... look at Corrales, one of the hardest punchers in his division, at welterweight he couldn't hurt ****... people seem to think, that this few pounds doesn't make a difference... but it means a lot believe me... so it's natural, that at this weight he fights the big fights...

And if Cotto would shut up, and do his work in the ring, then if he continues with his career, he would have no other chance but fight Cotto... so what... and Cotto would get beaten, I tell you, Cotto has a jab, but no right hand... and he hasn't Hatton's foot speed, and will not close the distance, like Hatton did, and I tell you the Puerto Rican fans are going to make this a good hostile crowd, that's something Floyd's need... Another late round ko...

Cotto has become a lot better... but he need's another year... he has enough quality opposition... he can only learn, and make this fight even more compelling

Since when is it not okay to voice an opinion on here? See if I'm the only one on here that feels this way. I think Mayweather is an amazing fighter and I want to genuinely agree with the claims he makes about himself, but if you read the other post I left then maybe you wouldn't be so quick to try and make fun. I don't have to be some big shot fighter or historian to have a valid argument/opinion.

cotto wouldnt do any better than hatton. hatton took the better approach and tried to bring the fight to mayweather unlike the bigger oscar and baldomir. i give hatton his props, knowing he was going to get countered but he took risk. cotto would try to outbox mayweather, which he cant do and his chin is very questionable. if mayweather hurts him the fight is over
