Still cant believe how badly Kessler lost to Joey Cal..

I know there have been a couple of thoughts on Kessler being overrated because of the lack of marquis names on his resume and his career never taking him to the US. But sometimes, you watch a fighter do their thing and you see certain things show what they are about. Kessler has all the tools a great fighter needs to be successful in this organized chaos we call Prize Fighting. In my opinion, he shares alot of the physical attributes and athletic ability Jermaine Taylor possesses though Mikkel has two up on Jermaine, ring intelligence and patience.

With all these attributes serving Kessler, I find it amazing how Joe Cal was able to confuse and control him the way he did. Of course at a certain point, it looked like Cal bit off more than he can chew but as soon as he loosened up, he was able to show Kessler angles and punches he wasnt used to. And it wasn't like Kessler wasn't doing what he was supposed to do. He executed the best fight plan that served him, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Whether that fight showed Joe Cal's brilliance in the Super Middle division or confirmed that Kessler was an overrated fighter with a padded record is up to speculation, but in my opinion, it brought out the best of both fighters. Joe Cal just proved who was the better man.

heres a great fight against Anthony Mundine

The thing is Kessler is still the best in the division. Calzaghe is a class above. If your watching the fight with Mundine, it was a good fight. Mundine was on top in the early rounds, but from the 4th round on he lacked agression and thats when Kessler dominated. Im waiting for a rematch between the two and im going to go out on a limb and pick against Kessler.

I think Kessler will dispose of Bute and Froch though. He is so powerful. Has an awesome jab. And a vicious uppercut, which he landed on joe C a few times.

Yeah the gap between Joe and Kessler is notable, but the gap between Kessler and guys like Taylor, Pavlik, etc., is even greater.

I can't see Taylor or Pavlik wining more han a round or two against Kessler. Calz-Kessler was the highest quality fight this year, with Floyd-DLH a close second.

I agree with that sentiment. I think Kelly is a great fighter. But the super middleweight division is potentially one of the highest quality out there. Is it a lot better than middleweight? I think so. There is a lot of depth. And the fighters are great.

Kessler is simply, still an awesome fighter. You will see when Joe C fights B-Hop, theres no shame loosing to Joe C.

No shame in losing to a legend and bonafide hall of famer like Joe Calzaghe. Even though Kessler lost I was still impressed with his handspeed, jab, combinations and heart. Mikkel Kessler will be back and stronger than ever, he is the heir to the throne at Super Middleweight.

Kessler won more fans and much more respect for his skills after losing to Joe. He got in the ring with the best and done very well. He should come back better than ever.

Kessler looked awesome against Joe even though he lost. Joe just figured him out, and simply an even better fighter than Kessler. Kessler is a top 5 p4p'er in my opinion as well

The more I think about it, I'm taking away the 'chance' Hopkins might have. After the first 4 rounds, Calzaghe is going to take the piss out of him for the rest of the fight, Calzaghe can fight and smash him, or he can box Hopkins and smash him. I think Calzaghe is a geniunely great fighter in the true sense of the word. His resume can be nitpicked, but he would have been competitive with ANY middleweight in history.

Calzaghe was just on another level that night. Like a champion, Calzaghe adapted after having some troubling times in the beginning of the fight, he figured Kessler out. Very good performance from Kessler, great performance from Calzaghe.

Yeh both fighters fought well. I couldn't believe how confident Calzaghe was when he was walking out. And because i hadn't seen much of Calzaghe live before, i thought he was going to loose. But the guy fought a great fight.

Kessler is an awesome fighter and will claim the throne of the SMW division when the time comes. However, Cal is a class above and is one of the p4p best in this world today. It's like Ricky losing to Floyd. Ricky was beaten, but hey it was to one of the best in the world and that shouldn't dimish your status as a very good fighter. Just like Kessler's loss does not make him overrated.
