CAlzaghe obviously didnt think he was that much better than Kessler because he quickly refused a rematch stating that Kessler would only get better. I think Kessler has very good skills but he did not show an ability to adjust when what he was doing stopped working. He will benefit from the experience of that fight and improve. Even tho Hopkins is a 40 something, beyond his prime great he will still provide a clearer picture of just how good Joe C is. Im not sold but I thought Joe looked far better than I have seen him in the past against Kessler.

Kessler has all the tools a great fighter needs to be successful in this organized chaos we call Prize Fighting. In my opinion, he shares alot of the physical attributes and athletic ability Jermaine Taylor possesses though Mikkel has two up on Jermaine, ring intelligence and patience.

With all these attributes serving Kessler, I find it amazing how Joe Cal was able to confuse and control him the way he did. Of course at a certain point, it looked like Cal bit off more than he can chew but as soon as he loosened up, he was able to show Kessler angles and punches he wasnt used to. And it wasn't like Kessler wasn't doing what he was supposed to do. He executed the best fight plan that served him, but unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Whether that fight showed Joe Cal's brilliance in the Super Middle division or confirmed that Kessler was an overrated fighter with a padded record is up to speculation, but in my opinion, it brought out the best of both fighters. Joe Cal just proved who was the better man.

heres a great fight against Anthony Mundine

Joe's greatest ability is being able to adapt his game to beat any opponent. He forces opponents to fight at a pace they are uncomfortable with.

You watch the Kessler fight and he's constantly making subtle changes to his offense until he finds a weakness in Kessler. He is a very clever boxer and for those who say he has no power, that body shot in the 8th had Kessler in real trouble before the ref saved him.

Queensdawg is right, he was not blown away at any point, he was just outsmarted by a boxer at the top of his game.

Kessler will go on to clean up at SMW I'm sure.

Like many people, I was sure Kessler would win that fight with his power and speed. I wasnt prepared for what I saw so I guess the contrast is what made the win so lopsided to me. I know Kessler didnt get SCHOOLED, but Joey C almost played with him.

            That is a defence.

I rewatched the fight this weekend for the first time since it happened after being given the DVD as a christmas present and it really was a very very good fight. It's been mentioned elsewhere but Calzaghe's ability to figure out his opponent within 4 rounds is just staggering - I had it even at 4 but can't see where I could have given Kessler even a share of a round after that.

Kessler impressed me as well. He just wasn't as good as Calzaghe. Not a slight on the man but a fact. It'll be interesting to see how he recovers from his loss as I can't see the man who fought that night losing again.

Kessler has a good name on his resume in Anthony Mundine, the man is a one eyed RJJ. If Taylor and Pavlik moved up to SMW I think they would be somewhere behind Kessler and maybe Bute but just above others like Miranda,Mundine,Froch and Lacy.

You hardly see any Danes here anymore. Before the fight it was non-stop rant about how Joe was avoiding Kessler. In the build up it was an irritant how Kessler was gonna school Joe. After the defeat, you hardly hear a peep from our Danish friends. They have all vanished.

I don't mean to be rude mate. But the Kessler-Mundine fight was a cracker. And it was close. I gave it to Kessler by 3 rounds, like 2501.

Anthony tries to fight like RJJ in attack. But his defence is superve, hes hard to tag.

I can't see how Miranda, Froch and Lacy are in the same league as Mundine. Sure they could cause an upset, but if Mundine turns up wanting to fight, he beats all of them. Its the same with Bute (in higher league with Mundine, second to Kessler). But then it goes higher to Kessler, who is the best in the division.

Kessler is a great fighter. A complete fighter. And he deserves to be a well ranked pound for pound fighter. But on that night. Calzaghe shone. And its no disgrace loosing to arguably the greatest super middleweight of all time. Joe C's workrate was simply outstanding.

I hope Kelly and Jermain move up. Because Super middleweight is taking off, big time.
