If you followed Floyd from the start, you knew who the Mayweathers are, unless you are not a curious person. If you watched boxing in the past 20 years, you know who Roger is, unless you are a casual fan and tend to only favor the Heavyweights.
I really don't care if someone just found out about him. I didn't know who some of the Old time fighters were until I started watching ESPN classics many years ago, and became curious to know who else was out there that came before.
I used to think it was tiresome to keep reminding some people that Ali did have a career prior to Frazier. Tyson, prior to prison, Louis, prior to Marciano and so on, but then I remember somebody coming back and telling me, Thanks for making them check it out, including myself to someone that informed me about certain old time fighters. I at one time was that little ****. Even today, I still have my door open for someone to say kindly, "listen you little ****, check this fighter/fight out."
24/7 allows a bit more of the personalities/showmanship to come across, which people like and can get them interested...people love a good personality and story.
I’ve posted highlights from old time fighters, some old fights from fighters way back, and if they watch, even a just a few, it’s good enough and I would hope people would do the same, since I haven’t seen them all either, far from it.
If someone just found out about Roger, well, maybe they will check out his fights. When doing so, they will notice a fighter named Chavez. From Chavez, maybe Whitaker, and then someone else…the cycle begins.
People have to remember that boxing is for everyone, fighters are for everyone, and the more people interested in the sport the better.
