Yeah good point, after all at the end of the day a win is a win

and Clottey is still 33-2 and the IBF mandatory anyway you slice it. he was never in danger, and won pretty much every round.

but looking at this fight vs Alvarez it almost played out exactly like his last fight with Felix Flores

not neccessarely the outcome (UD) .. but how Clottey fought .. aggressive the middle rounds (5-9) and coasted the last couple

so here's the ?. could Clottey be fighting this way on purpose? to conserve his hands?

because if you go back to the Margarito fight .. Clottey was ultra aggressive, throwing tons of punches the first 4 rounds

compared to his last 2 fights (Alverez, Flores) he seems to have gotten a good rhythem down.

am I onto something .. or is it just an errie coincidence?

I think you hit the nail on the head. With all of the hand problems he's had he's probably conserving it for a bigger fight. He could've went after Alvarez & stopped him but he took his foot off the gas it seemed. He's a MAJOR problem for everyone at Welter because of his handspeed & durability. And the guy wants to fight Margarito again. I would love to see that rematch.

I like his uppercut, it's unusual but he's dedicated to throwing it. He's one of the strongest guys at Welter too, big and physical.

          Alvarez had zero pop though.

After last night, I came to the opinion that Clottey is a good strong boxer, but he wont beat guys like cotto, floyd, and williams. He may have a chance against mosley and I pick him to beat the new Zsolt Erdie aka Kermit Cintron.

I've never seen so many cotto haters in my life .... cotto is a legit champion(cotto vs floyd = pound for pound best) ... that clottey fight was the biggest trash fight i've seen in a long time ... clottey would get destroyed by cotto's bogy attacked, destroyed by cintron or by any of the 147 champions!!!! He lost to Margarito what makes you think he can beat a champion????

man I couldn't disagree with you more. Clottey is a good fight but no way he beats Cotto. His defense is to high and Cotto would tear his body to shreds. I know your a Williams fan and you'd love to see Cotto taken out before they meet at 147, but its just not going to happen. Cotto destroys anyone at 147 minus Mayweather (possibly even mayweather, I'll never bet against at Cotto at 147). Williams needs to move up to 154 and defeat those champs before cotto so he will have time to adjust to the weight. Williams is very young and he's going to grow into his frame way before a fight with Cotto happens. If williams continues to stay at 147 I think its going to damage him for a cotto fight and he won't be at his best. 154 all the way to 160 Williams is a beast with his Natural advantages and his unbelievable punch output, that combination will give anyone problems. But at 147 I just don't think Williams will have the weight to take those Cotto body punches. I could be wronge and it won't be the first time but I think its a safe bet Cotto TKO if they meet at 147.
