Cotto wins by late round TKO.
According to ESPN...It looks like Clottey vs. Cotto in March!!!!!

word clotty almost lost his last fight on espn a few months back. he looked real sloppy and slow. very hittable. he looked good against margirito but not great. and he went to war with the smaller coralesComment

I think this is a very dangerous fight for Cotto. In fact I think Clottey handles him. He has more handspeed that SSM. He also is very durable. Not to mention that Clottey co9mes in at 160+ on fightnight. I think Cotto is in trouble with this guy.
The guy I feel sorry for in all of this would be Margarito... If Clottey beats Cotto, Tony would have to rematch Clottey or Williams to get a belt. He could always get at Cintron. If Clottey beats Cotto and Margarito beats Cintron. Where would that leave Mayweather??/ he'd have no choice but to face a viable Threat at WW in order to secure some type of legacy there. Williams, Clottey and Margarito all beat Mayweather...Comment

I guess if this fight happens and Cotto loses.."Mayweather was ducking Cotto just for him to lose so he wont HAVE to fight him"...I just feel it in my spirit, that in the future, some one will make that a thread and it will get alotta hits!!! LOL!
This whole deal with Mayweather "ducking" x,y,z, it getting so old...let's move on and talk about someone else and I'm a Mayweather fan. The dude ain't yet lost, but let the people on here tell it, he is the worst boxer instead of the best P4P.
Let's not forget that Clottey gave Marg a run for his money. He hit Marg with some good, clean shots. If I remember correctly, Clottey hurt his hand.... I believe that Clottey is a MUCH better fighter now and the boy is ALWAYS in top shape and he can CRACKKKKKKKK!!! We will see....Comment

Damn I meant to click on Cotto by decision. Clottey's defense is very good so he should last the full twelve but Cotto has many tools in his arsenal and he is only getting better. He should get the decision in the bout.Comment

I'm rooting for Clottey. Miguel could win though no doubt. But a lot of you are over exaggerating with him looking bad his last fight. Just because you don't KO a guy doesn't mean you were average. He won like all of the rounds pretty easily. And if you watched the fight you'd know he was trying out different things to practice on.
Anyway this is a great fight if it happens. But Cotto shouldn't even take a fight if it isn't DLH. Really that's the fight that has to be made. Oscar aint gonna fight anyone else but him. He is the biggest name in the division after Mayweather. Fighting Clottey to me is a mistake, high risk low reward. If he loses, which is conceivable where does that leave him? Surely his career isn't over but it could mess up a lot of **** for mega matchups.
I think this is gonna be tough for Cotto. Clottey actually has defense unlike Mosley. And is about 5-6 years younger. Also he is a legitimate 154 pounder who fights at welter who has really good stamina. He likes to go to the body just as much as Cotto so it should be great. Hopefully he takes care of business on Thursday first.Comment

You guys are putting the cart before the horse. Wait and see what happens tomorrow, and what Oscar decides he's gonna do. I'm 90% positive that Oscar is going to pick Cotto for May 3rd.Comment

R.I.P Joshua Clottey. He's going to get ****ing mauled.
On a side note, I'm disappointed in this fight. After going back to back with Zab Judah and Shane Mosley, I was hoping Cotto would take on somebody more of note. Judah and Mosley are big wins, but Judah had been shot for years and most think Mosley beat Cotto or that it was a draw.
Cotto/Margarito would be better. Sadly Cotto wants no part of Margarito since he saw what he did to Golden Schlong.Comment

Yep he does leave his body open, and sometimes he waits too long to throw punches,he takes rounds off,Cotto will win,by KO i dont know, but Cotto's got this, and Clottey does not hit as hard as people make out,he only has 19 KOs in 32 wins, his last 5 fights have went the distance, people think hes a power puncher, hes notClottey is a very good fighter, i think he's also very exciting, and he's probably the best conditioned athlete on the planet lol, the guy is ****ing amazing.
BUT, I think he's gonna get knocked out with body punches. He has an airtight defense for upstairs, but the left hook shots to his sides are fairly open, and defnetly open enough for Cotto to get his dirty work done.
I think its gonna be an exciting fight for 5 or 6 rounds, but Cotto breaks him town and stops him late.
Im a fan of both guys, i would love to see this fight happen. But i think a lot of people are gonna want Cotto to face some of the other welterweights
he dropped Corrales, but couldent finish him,i think we agree Corrales was shot at that point, and a heavy handed puncher would have finished the warriorComment

This isnt even a done deal. It's just an option as of right now.
If it happens it'll probably be in PR too since Cotto has that written into his contract.
Clottey's strong and heavy handed, but he cuffs his punches so they arent as hard as they look. His left hook worries me. He doubles and triples it up nicely. His quick right is dangerous as well. Cotto will have his hands full, but as I said before Clottey disappears too much during fights, and Cotto will take advantage with his most brutal body assault yet.Last edited by -Antonio-; 12-19-2007, 11:12 AM.Comment
