Hatton Planning UK Return, Witter Bout Nixed

According to a recent interview with the Manchester Evening News, Ricky Hatton (43-1, 31KOs) wants his anticipated return to take place on UK soil. Since being knocked out by Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, several venues and countries are making bids for Hatton's first bout of 2008. [details]

Fighting Witter now would probably be a bad move for Hatton, coming off the lose to Mayweather. Witter is probably the toughest opponent he could face at LWW so he really needs some sort of tune up before-hand. A sensible decision I guess.. Although it puts another delay on the Witter bout.. Can't wait for that to go down..

[gomer pile] Surprise, surprise, surprise [/gomer pile]

Hatton's not fighting Witter? Wow, that's news! I doubt it will be Paulie if it's in the UK. It will probably be a top 50 fighter meant to increase his self confidence after getting KTFO in his last fight. A nice confidence-booster that will allow his fans to see him dominate/KO someone and get back on the winning track.

Hmm, I'm thinking the following opponents should be about what he's looking for:

              Souleymane M'baye ____ 36 (21) - 2 - 1
              Javier Jauregui ________ 52 (36) - 14 - 2
              Nigel Wright __________ 18 (9) - 2 - 1
              Henry Bruseles ________ 25 (14) - 3 - 1
              Raul Balbi ____________ 55 (38) - 8 - 1

Wow, that'd be awesome if he came to Ireland, but it doesn't make much sense for his UK fans.

                Hope it happens tho

I've heard a few serious rumours about Gavin Rees being lined up.

I know he's a title holder and a decent chap but really, he has no business being in the ring with Hatton and vice versa.

                    Hatton would eat Rees alive!
