  • Ponce Wants Big Bucks For Penalosa Rematch

Billy Keane, co-manager of WBO bantamweight champ Gerry Penalosa (52-6-2, 35KOs), appeared on the Sports Chat radio, hosted by Dennis Principe in the Philippines, and revealed that a substantial rematch offer has been made to WBO super bantamweight champ Daniel Ponce De Leon (34-1, 30KOs). Ponce De Leon won a unanimous decision over Penalosa in March at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. While the judges had lopsided scores of 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108, ringside observers had it much closer. [details]

DPDL was good in some of his earlier fights, but he fought like a douche bag on the Hatton undercard. I can't see him doing much, to be fair.

The reason he looked so bad is cuase... that lil ***** escobedo was scared. He was bending over, grabbing ponce's leg, running, and turning his back. If escobedo would have fought straight up like a man instead of an amateur he would have got knocked out in 3rounds. I say ponce wins the rematch with penalosa.

He might have been scared, but he clearly won that fight. If any rematches are to be considered, Escobedo needs his chance first.

Escobedo needs to go back to the gym.... he looked like a scared amatuer. He didnt win the fight.. what the **** fight were you watching. Sure ponce looked bad but he clearly won that fight. escobedo needs to fight b class opponents on "espn" and "telefetura" before he jumps in a PPV undercard im not paying money to see that style of fighting.

If there's any time in his life for ponce to get rich, now's the time.

escobedo didnt win that fight. it may have looked that way because he was clearly the more polished fighter but he didnt do enough to win. as far as Penalosa, i just want DPDL to knock him out. i didnt care for the extra attention Penalosa got for landing a lucky punch in a fight he was clearly losing.
