Exactly i remember benn saying watson wouldn’t have any eyes left by the time he finished with him. watson proved his point in the ring. Fighters mouth of all the time hatton has got to come up with a better excuse than that.

HATTON's Lawyer: First a Tune Up in UK - MALIGNAGGI in MSG NEXT. No WITTER!

Early indications in the direction of Ricky Hatton's career were revealed by his lawyer Gareth Williams to the London Telegraph. According to Williams, "The Hitman" will likely defend his IBO belt in the UK then face IBF junior welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden later in the year. Williams also stated that Hatton will not face hated rival WBC super lightweight champion Junior Witter. "Ricky will never fight Junior Witter, as long as he keeps attacking him in public," he is quoted as saying.

Malignaggi (23-1, 5 KOs) will defend his title against IBF #1 mandatory challenger Herman Ngoudjo (16-1, 9 KOs) on January 5 at Bally’s in Atlantic City in the first big fight of 2008.

Malignaggi vs Hatton could be a great fight, tough to pick. I'd have to pick Hatton because he'd be at 140 but Paulie can definitely win it.

Hatton will have to fight Witter sooner or later because if he doesn't even his loyal fans will surely start questioning him..

Hmmm who could the tune-up be? Maybe he gives Forbes a shot.

That he continues to ignore Witter, is pretty sad.

Nonetheless, a tune-up against Forbes or Lazcano would be interesting but, relatively safe enough.

hatton would be depriving british fight (and world) fight fans of a true grudge match for a major title on british soil. mayweather made ricky millions so it shouldnt be about the money

"Ricky will never fight Junior Witter, as long as he keeps attacking him in public," he is quoted as saying.

Wait, so you cannot talk trash to Hatton anymore…is he that sensitive?

I'm not a big fan of trash talking, but I can understand it on some level. Let us take this case: Junior holds a title (which is important in this case), hasn't had a big payday yet and has been ignored by Ricky, so what he is doing is just trying to get Ricky in the ring to get a big payday and get a possible win to boost his name/legacy. If he had an agreement that stated he will have a fight with Ricky on so and so date, then the trash talk wouldn’t be needed, unless you want to argue to boost the sell of the fight (if needed).

I remember Hatton constantly using Floyd’s name for years while never fighting him. Then, when Floyd retires, Hatton decides to talk trash to get him in the ring. Good job Ricky, wait until Floyd is 30, has gained weight and isn't fighting quite the same. Bad for you that you miscalculated on how much longer you should have waited.

Come on Hatton, lighten up and fight Junior since he is in your division, holds a title, and probably doesn't talk as much trash as Paulie

Basically Witter is high risk too low reward for the hatton camp... So called Mr "ordinary and not to big for nobody" Hatton as become all up his own arse. Its annoying cos witter isn't on any video shouting "i got your title baby! ricky! I'm the best in the world baby, ricky!"

Maybe ricky is worried that witter might KO him like Mayweather did and going undefeated for 43 then losing 2 in a row by KO would be embarrising and that left hook witter hit harris with might just do the job on hatton......

and i'm a hatton fan so thats ays something....
