    You Idiot!!

Floyd wouldn't last 6 rounds with RJJ. The weight difference is just too much!

floyd is the best fighter of his era, bar none. he was more dominant than any other fighter and going to win 6 titles in 5 weight classes without of loss only enhances this. skillwise, roy jones ain't got **** on him, because it's obvious that floyd's skills are way more polished than roy, and this is why he hasn't lost yet. ray leonard and hopkins are right, floyd is the best, hands down. he's proved it, and besides a young toney and hopkins, floyd's resume is better than jones, he has more legends on his resume and soon to be legends on his resume than roy does, and floyd is more gifted than roy, don't give me any bull**** with this either, floyd is sharper in everything except power than roy was and is. numbers don't lie, floyd is the truth.

that would be like floyd stepping up to fight hopkins
          and winning ...
Ruiz is garbage. That wasn't a huge accomplishment. No one gives him credit for that.

Quality of opposition has to count for something. For whatever reason, a lot of people don't appear to consider that factor at all when determining greatness. Roy was not the best fighter of his era because he just didnt fight enough meaningful fights. I give him credit for having the balls to move up and fight Ruiz, but that is not enough. My memory of Roy is of a supremely gifted athlete who paraded around year after year declaring his P-4-P greatness while he fought nobodies, all the while disparaging other great fighters like JC Chavez, ODLH, Barrera, Mosely, etc; great fighters who actually tested themselves against other great fighters. Sure, those guys lost a few here and there, but that's what happens when great fighters fight other great fighters.

Floyd is doing way more than Roy to cement his status as the greatest of his era, not because he has more skill (he does), but because he is fighting and beating other great fighters.

I always counted 10 years as a boxing era and RJJ was my pick in the 90's even though he crossed over into the next era, it's like joe louis fighting Marciano, I consider Louis the better fighter even though he was beaten whe he crossed over into the next era to fight Marciano, and Mayweather is the best of this era (2000-2010) even though 2010 hasn't been reached.

I also thnk RJJ had more skill because he was able to skip past those boxing fundementals and become great. Mayweathe is smarter though he learnt the fundementals and will be great for longer than jones.

It you could say it was at the end of his career, but hes still fighting so i think that has to exclude him. He was a great talent, but id take Floyd's accomplishments and perfect record anyday
that also didnt happen til roy was 35 and past his prime... floyds got 5 more years til he get to that point...

and personally to get a disqualification and then come back and knock dude out in the first round is awesome

when roy was 30 he was makin em look like nobody

but floyd is the man as well

                    Floyd and RJJ

Both those guys operated at a level that diminshed our perception of their competition... Is Phil Mickelson a bad golfer??? or is Tiger Woods just that much better than the rest... Every generation or so an athlete comes along that stands above the rest.. Floyd and Roy enjoy that distinction.... They would have been champs no matter what the era.

Clottey is a prime ranked welter weight . Floyd doesnt fight prime welter weights.
