Yes, Cintron was going to make 7 figs. When he dropped out, HBO dropped the budget bigtime. Quintana was originally offered about 10% of what Cintron was making. Considering it was a very difficult fight to win, he and his team have been trying to get more. HBO doesnt care much about the fight so they havent wanted to up the anty. However there is some pull from Williams side (his promoter and manager) to keep the date and get more money for Quintana. The last I heard is Carlos was being very reasonable and decided to take close to the original offer. It is in HBO hands now. Will the come up with the extra cash to save the date? I know it is not much, but I dont think they really care about the date anymore at this point.

lol @ those paul williams haters. it was a slip in the 2nd round. just so you know. thats makes sense cuz i think it went like this for paul: maythesse > sharmba > pakau > margarito. i may be wrong on the order tho.

Good fight for both. Williams gets a named opponent and stays active while he waits on the Cottos etc of the division. And Quintana needs this win to get back in the game.

why would i be scared for paul to fight a guy he already beat? paul beat margo fair and square.

i have given you reasons why paul shouldnt fight margo right away a bunch of times. marg forced paul williams' longest stretch of inactivity when marga was waffaling on the decision to fight cotto and drop his title or defend it against paul. margarito was trying to avoid williams like the plague, and the only reason why he agreed to fight paul in the first place was so that he wouldnt be stripped of the wbo belt. williams was marg's madatory for a minute. it was so long that the wbo forced the fight unless marg wanted to drop the belt and give it to a real fighter like paul.

i dont like it when people say "williams is a fighter who is avoided big time. you gotto give props to marg for being the only one willing to fight williams." Bull****. Marg didnt want that fight. he was forced into that fight. if marg didint wait so long, he could have fought paul in the spring and then fight cotto in november. that wouldnt have happened anyways, since marg lost.


so to say I'm scared of marg is far from the truth. I want to see margo squirm to get back into the running to fight williams. marg is highly rated in the wbo rankings. he can get a mandatory spot if he keeps working. i want to see williams fight other fighter as well. either way, williams needs to make that *****, margarito, wait just like that ***** made the punisher wait.

if the wbo would have allowed margarito to keep his belt and fight williams after cotto, williams would have had to wait an extra 6 months for his shot. I say **** that. whats good for williams is good for margarito.
