Cortez: "Hatton wasn't allowed to fight his style"

No. If my beef with Cortez was reserved only to Hatton issues then I wouldn't care about what fights Cortez referees in the future but that is my main concern. What happened on Saturday is done but if Cortez turns in a performance like that again it may be in a close enough match that his decisions to impact the outcome of the fight and that is something none of us want to see.So let me ask you this:
If Hatton would have fell through the ropes and Floyd hit him in the back of his head and he took a point. I willing to bet all of my points you would agree with it.
The point I making is that he gave the fighters instructions in their locker rooms and he was very specific.
Floyd was hanging out of the ring and Hatton decided to hit him why he was defenseless. Come on now the point deduction was justified.Comment

What the **** is wrong with you? Taking the internet a bit too seriously huh? I debate you about Hopkins beating Trinidad senseless in a thread yesterday and yet you still can't keep my name out of your ****ing mouth? Pathetic.
As to the topic, I'd have preferred to see Steve Smoger ref it because, quite frankly I love that dude's style. But it still wouldn't have changed a thing, because Mayweather is better on the inside than even Hatton. Hatton would've had more momentum but ultimately he'd still have lost.
your so easy.Comment

It would hold more merit among the fair minded but for Cortez I believe it would hold no merit.Comment

bs, he wasn't even allowed to fight close at all. everytime they got close, cortez pulled them apart. He is a disgrace to boxing, before they even clinched he pulled them apart. He is a disgusting ref, mayweather would have won still but I don't think it would have been by a ko.

Lots of Americans are unhappy with Cortez's performance (as seen on this forum). Also, being a regular visiter of the Cotto forum, i know the Ricans are shocked at his performance. It's not just the British.
Cortez is being ignorant in that respect, and also ignorant in regards to European officiating.Comment

what ref in history pushes fighters apart before they even get close at all? Thats exactly what Cortez did. Hatton has little arms, of course hes going to try and fight closeComment

Wrong, every time Hatton got in close Mayweather did the smart thing, hold Hatton and stop his in-game or push him off to a distance that he could cause accurate damage. Floyd always has his left hand close to his chest in a defensive position, so if you try to stick your head in Mayweather's chest your gonna get a face full of forearm and elbow, plain and simple. i respect Hatton more then ever before, but even he didn't really complain about the elbows. It's not a tickle contest after all.Comment

If you think he pushed him away once he got in then you need you eyes checked. He broke them apart once they clinched. Please go back and rewatch the fight.Comment
