    Is this a joke?
You guys are actually taking the time to try to draw a comparison between Williams and Tommy Hearns??
    Are you ****ing serious?
Not only are you debating it you feel compelled to provide proof? Dude....its Hearns man...nuff said.
Actually you want proof? I will give you some numbers..and you try to guess what they are.....15....you know what that is? That is the number of fighters Williams faced before he faced an opponent with a winning record. 73-154.....thats their combined records.
In comparison...10....that is the number of opponents Hearns faced in his first 15 with winning records...his 15th opponent...Clyde Gray former welterweight Champ who had a 65-6 record at that point got knocked the **** out. He also knocked out future NABF Welter champ Bob Finch in his 12th bout. That is just a first 15 comparison...that is just for starts...this ****in clown couldnt smell Hearn's ****.
This always happens...everytime some ****drip fights a bunch of ****in bums and gets a pretty paper record he starts to get the greatness comparisons.
He might wipe his ass like Hearns..I dont know..but anything to do with his name...Hearn's name and boxing should be throttled back.
Hearns hahahahahhaa!!!!! in his goddamned dreams
Oh and one more thing...this dude gets in the ring with Floyd and he is gonna get his ass kicked.

Hearns and Williams? Similar? Oh dear....

Ok, first, Hearns was a master boxer. Even without his height he would've been a brilliant fighter (as evidenced by his move up to light heavy, well past his prime, and still winning belts against young prime fighters the same height). He had a very stiff lightning fast jab. He had hard, brutal body punching, especially his left hook to the liver. He was a great defensive fighter. He also was lucky to have one of the hardest punches pound for pound flat-out in the history of the sport. He could've KO'ed absolutely anyone if he landed that right flush...as evidenced by his KO of Duran. His only flaws were stamina and a supposedly suspect chin though if you go over his history he took a lot of hard shots and only went down with a perfectly landed flush chin shot. That was not very often either. It was more his stamina that was his problem, and early on, his inexperience with tying up opponents defensively.

The fact that Hearns also fought in one of the greatest depths of talent per era against some of the greatest fighters in history just further shows his immense talent. Todays welterweight pool is probably the best in the sport talent wise, apart from lightweight, but it is still very, very lacking in comparison to Hearns' days. Williams may have been a contender in Hearns' days but not a belt holder.

Williams' best asset is his constant punch output. He doesn't use his height to great effect, as with it he should be able to beat nearly anyone with semi ease in the division. He is not that good a boxer defensively and takes far too many shots for his height. He should be able to stick out a stiff jab and keep just about anyone on the end of it for most of a fight without being touched. Actually, he doesn't really have one thing in particular that he does especially well. Neither speed, skill, power, defense or great offense (apart from aforementioned punch output).

He is good by todays standard and should he learn to develop his height advantage to proper use he could have a shot at someone like Mayweather but as it stands now he wouldn't win. It would be closer than Corrales/ Mayweather but still vaguely similar. Hearns on the other hand would've destroyed Mayweather. No comparison.

you cant compare Williams to The motor city cobra..Hearns had sick power with both hands..and could box with the best of them. Williams is good but he is feather fisted..and is as good a boxer as Hearns was. the only thinf they have in common are the tall lanky frames..thats were the similaritys end.
