Paul Williams could, he is to big and his reach is to much for Floyd. He also has nice speed.
Floyd is an amazing fighter, but he has shown weakness. He is not unbeatable.
He should have lost to Castillo. Castillo landed more punches, he landed more power punches and he had a higher connect percentage. The only reason Floyd is undefeated right now is because the judges are idiots. You can't argue with compubox numbers.Last edited by Trax416; 12-10-2007, 04:23 PM.Comment

I've changed my mind about pressure fighters. I dont think it's possible to swarm him and try to smother his shots and outwork him on the inside. It's too hard. He ends up wrestling with you and lands the quicker shots inside and his mobility allows him late in fights to counter you much easier.
You either have to be southpaw and switch up angles and pressure him, or a boxer puncher in the mold of Vernon Forrest.Comment

cotto will never outbox floyd. he would have to be very accurate and his timing would have to be emaculanton the defensive end to even compete with floyd added with his pressure and relentless come forward approach, and i do not believe he is capable of this but we would have to see. paul williams would be the toughest fight out there for floyd but floyd would eat him up with timing and great body placement, but the keyword is timing, because floyd's timing added with his speed and accuracy is just in a league of it's own. paul williams leaves his body open when he throws his punches the way he does. i don't give a **** hw much he throws an dhow long his reach is, when he's fighting a complete mental fighter named floyd mayweather jr, that **** won't win him a fight with floyd, bot at all. paul williams would tire out against floyd and be suseptable to body shots and we all know how accurate floyd is to the body and how he breaks anybody down including cotto and williams. williams has a high workrate but his size advantage don't mean ****, his reach advantage don't mean **** when he's missing many of his punches and floyd is timing him which he would have to do, and he does this well. paul williams faints well and fights good at angles but he is still too green imo, because when he does this he gives up his height and reach and i've watched several of his fights and seen this. paul williams would have to slap his jab at floyd to land it a lot because when paul doesn't leave his fist closed when he throws punches, he lands them a lot, which he did against tony. remember floyd's best punch imo is his left hook, and he knows how to time it well against fighters who give up their height and aren't pressure fighers, like he did against corrales, even though that was ages ago, floyd would train like he did against chico imo, but against williams who throws so many punches but isn't a sharp puncher like floyd, he may have to make many adjustments to, so yes, paul would have the best chance against floyd, and no, i will not change my pick like many others on here do, first they say shane, then cotto, then williams, no shane, no cotto, williams has the best chance, but he is still too green. he would have to prove to me otherwise.
williams throws punches a lot but he also wastes a lot of them, and you should know by now, that when you fight floyd, it doesn't matter how many punches you throw, if they aren't landing enough, they won't be enough to get you the win. the only other chance paul has is to time floyd very well and hope keep him off of him with his jab enough to frustrate floyd an dtake him off of his game, which is damn near impossible to do, especially if your stamina is subpar, and paul hasn't gone 12 rounds for some time now, minus the margarito fight at a tempo and pace that floyd goes. because when floyd turns it up in the later rounds you better be mentally prepared to sustain what he's going to do, because the man don't get tired, he can go for ages, and paul williams was caught in the later rounds by tony who is much slower than floyd, and paul showed stamina problems like a mother****er in that fight, seeing how tony started to time him well and go to his body well. so, imagine what floyd would do, and i know paul would train different for floyd, and i'm not basing my who argument off of his last performance, but against floyd, your physical attributes will not get the job done by themselves, you have to be mentally stable with advanced thinking to beat floyd, because that's how he beats you, he outhinks you at your own game or at his game, which is why he makes adjustments the way he does. for those, who believe that paul would dust the floor with floyd, you're only adding to floyd's magic, because he is a methodical(ther goes that word again) and he paces the fight on his terms, and it's paul's job to disrupt that pace convincingly for 12 rounds in order to beat floyd, his workrate has to be great, he cannot leave his body open, because floyd willattack his body and slow his punch output down, trust me, added to the fact that he has to time floyd very well with his jab and land it whether in a slapping punch or full punch becuse if he doesn't he will not land many punches on mr. mayweather at all, i don't care how long his reach is. floyd is just too good a fighter for any fighter to depend on their physical attributes to beat him, i promise all of you guys and gals on here, that will not work. he's too complex for it.Comment

forrest is a good name, and he is accurate, but his speed has diminished and with as great as he was, floyd is too dynamic a fighter for vernon, and i have always wanted to see these two clash it out, this was my dream match when i went to my gym to train, i promoted this matchup a lot, it made my dad and uncles so mad. they use to say, "damn kid, you want to be a champion or a promoter, because you sure do mulittask here, let's ****ing train boy." i used to tell them to kiss my ass, which was a mistake, because they worked me to death, but hell, at least i'm nice as **** now, and smart as ever in that ring, anyway, vernon imo would be overwhlemed with floyd's speed, and vernon would have to outmuscle floyd because he's still accurate and that's crucial in beating floyd, and nobody has showed this yet against him. vernon could, but floyd is too fast for him and too dynamic at this point in vernon's career.Comment

Someone like Sugar Ray Leonard. Speed, stamina, power, smarts, defense. Or a fighter like Duran who is a brawler with boxing skills and a great chin.
No Cotto is not either. He would lose too. Only person beating Floyd right now is himself.Comment
