Well Floyd is doing it by choice, SRL had that eye injury that sidelined him.

in a way, u could say that but SRL was more so sidelined cause of the problems with his eye. Mayweather is taking a bit of a rest cause he has some nagging problems with his body and is making a business move.

At the end of the day, many people want to see it but you guys shouldn't keep reassuring by saying stuff like "it'll happen, don't worry". It isn't written in stone and Mayweather doesn't need Cotto. I reiterate, Cotto is not Floyd's Marvin Hagler. There is NOBODY around like that for him to cement his legacy. His legacy is based on his accumulation of accomplishments and a 31-0 Miguel Cotto who turned pro in 2001 is not a defining fight!
I'm sure he's doing what he says he's doing but I think he is also building anticipation as this guy said.
I can't see why people think that he'd be afraid of Coto or anyone else for that matter but the fact that so many people claim that he is will be enough to bring him back for that fight.

I think more then just a few fans think Floyd is a bit concerned with Cotto-we will never know for sure but I think he is not to eager to fight MC-hopefully Im wrong!

If Floyd retires and years later people talk about his greatness and mention him being the welterweight champ one could and probably should bring up his welterweight resume. He is the current Welterweight champ of the world without a real significant Welterweight victory. (not dogging him at all just laying it out)

There is a current consensus in the sport that cotto is clearly the number 1 fighter at WW behind Jr...with that said you mentioned that floyd does not need Cotto and your right in context but if we are to talk about Floyd like he thinks he should be talked about (as possibly the greatest fighter of all time) then he cannot afford not to take care of Cotto, if he beats Cotto this boxing fan will have no further questions.

15million isn't going to move Floyd. He's now a 20 million plus fighter.

If Cotto can beat 2 or 3 of them and stays undefeated he will make a big name for himself. Right now everyone knows Floyd Mayweather. The average person..doesnt know Miguel Cotto. Mayweather is leaving the sport to let Cotto make a name for himself put his face out there so WHEN the two fight it will generate amazing PPV buys as opposed to now when cotto still isnt a household name.
Thats what i been telling people.... its exactly what floy will do. they dont understand he's doing it for the money..

not for boxing.... I still love em though because i like defensive fighter like him and whitaker.
