So it was the refs fault for breaking them up in the clinch. Thats the refs job. People paid to see a fight na wrestling match. If Ricky don't like the rules go to MMA they allow clinching there.

      Give it up.

True, Cortez only refereed one of the fighters and clearly had preconceived ideas about what was going to happen in there, but it didn't change the result. Hatton would still have lost.

it would'nt have changed the result IMO Hatton was gonna lose regardless but i dont think he would have been stopped had Cortez not been the referee cause he would 'nt have had to sell out the way he did ,soon as the point was taken Ricky's mindset was now i have to knock him out & go for it big time to stand any chnace of winning

it was his own fault about the holding wether it was him or Floyd ,Ricky should have worked inside & left his hand free intead of trying to tie PBF up first then hit him ,that way the referee would have allowed them to fight inside

The undisputed cruiserweight world champion was critical of the official's part in the Hitman's 10th-round KO by Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas.

Cortez, whose catchphrase is 'I'm firm, but I'm fair', was on the Mancunian's back from the opening exchanges.

He refused to let Hatton get in close and constantly warned him, even though Mayweather was ducking down when the two did go toe-to-toe.

It came to a point in the sixth round when Cortez took a point off for hitting round the back of the head - the first time that had happened to Hatton in 44 fights - but for Haye, the damage had already been done.

"Ricky did everything, but I thought the referee had a part in this fight," he told Sky Box Office. "He had become desperate and a desperate man is easy to catch.

"Once he had lost that point, it changed everything. He tried too hard and as a result, he smothered his own work.

"The ref had it in his mind before the fight. He was trying to keep busy, trying to do too much and for me he ruined the fight. It could've had a much better flow.

I'd back Ricky to hit a knockout blow close in and early. Floyd was already taking more shots to the head that he did against Oscar in the whole fight

PBF has never been knocked out & Hatton is nt exactly a Knockout merhcant so dont see how u come to that conclusion he was'nt even landing cleanly look at the punch stats for the fight Hatton hardly landed any shots

So the ref was bad, it happens, get over it. It didn't go to points because Hatton got KO'd and no-one predicted that. Is that someone's fault too?

Stop crying over spilt milk and move on bro. The Hatton excuses threads are embarrassing and do your man no credit at all.

He lost to the #1 P4P, there's no dishonor there at all.

He never had a chance to win is the point. The ref took it away.

So get over it, move on. Hatton showed more dignity in defeat, why can't Hatton fans do the same?
