i dont think he was controlling the pace at all, and having seen every single mayweather fight, he was clearly not comfortable especially in rounds 1 and 2, but if you know mayweather, you know after round 4, hes got you, he knows what youre going to do and hes gonna excecute dat ass with a quickness.
Mayweather looked shook

Hbo was trying the paint the worst picture of floyd they could, so much so even teddy atlas commented on it. they were hyping hatton to no end about how he was controlling the pace etc. HBo had no highlights of hatton because for every 1 clean punch hatton landed, mayweather landed another 10I just noticed, They did not show any heighlights of Hatton the whole fight. The ref was pushing mayweather, hbo was pushing mayweather and the judges were pushing mayweather. Smells kinds a funny.
HBO caught conspiring to develope Floyd into a nice guy cash cow. Right down to him dropping in for another interview all nice and cheery.Comment

come on man, those punches diidnt even catch Floyd flush. That was just a anxtious fighter being offbalance. He was clearly not hurt at all. People keep trying to make it sound like Hatton caught Floyd with a big punch that sent him flying. Be real, that was not the case.
Also, how can you guys talk about everything being for Floyd when the HBO announcers were talking about how well Hatton was doing and they all had him very close in the fight if not winning. They gave him more props then Floyd until the end of the fight and most experts think they were being biased towards Hatton. Also, please dont act like HBO is protecting Floyd when all they do is diss him every chance they get. They wouldve had no problem with Hatton winning and then setting up a big fight with Oscar at Wembley or a Cotto fight. They dont even like Floyd anymoreComment

And I agree. Floyd is great (a great). Thats why I'm pissed at the ref in the first and mst impt. 4 rounds.i dont think he was controlling the pace at all, and having seen every single mayweather fight, he was clearly not comfortable especially in rounds 1 and 2, but if you know mayweather, you know after round 4, hes got you, he knows what youre going to do and hes gonna excecute dat ass with a quickness.Comment

floyd didn't look scared to me. to be honest floyd looks scared in alot of his fights to me but he winsComment

Floyd did look way more uncomfortable than i've ever seen him.
Fortunately for him he realised Ricky really didnt seem to have the strength and power he was trying to protect himself from. His uncle saw that too and told him "you ain't gotta be backin up from that mother****er" etc while he was in the corner.
Thats when he got comfortable and started lowering his hands luring ricky into those straights that nearly ripped his head off.Comment

Floyd already KNEW Hatton would apply that pressure...and ANY fighter would be somewhat uncomfortable...especially if you fight like Floyd
his greatness comes in HOW he adjusts and relaxes...
every fighter is nervous when he enters the ring...no matter how vicious or talented he is
Hatton is faster in hand and footspeed than Castillo, Jesus Chavez, DLH, Gatti
Keep in mind, you don't find guys with the footspeed of Mayweather (Hatton) or the speed of Mayweather (Judah), or the skills and intelligence of Mayweather (DLH) often...so he will look ordinary for a few rounds before adjustingLast edited by TyrantT316; 12-10-2007, 11:49 AM.Comment
