Also food can be grown but if your on a desert island how you gonna magically appear some seeds to grow more food.

So on a desert island there would be natural food sources for you to eat on land and in the sea and it would just be a matter of finding them.

But I bet Einstein would be clever enough to find sources of food on a desert island and assess if there was enough to last or whether or not you would need to grow more and would be able to do that. The soil would be good enough if they were there in the first place.
