    Hatton's tactics

Hatton should have changed tactics he was doing okay early but i think Floyd was showing signs of anxiety personally his timing was little off in the 1st round etc as soon as he settled down & got into a rythm Hatton was up against it & all the spoiling had taken its toll on Hatton he was easier to hit

he should have used the jab to close the range like Oscar did i know he does'nt really have a jab but he should have tried to use it regardless ,casue walking his way in or feinting his way in or rolling and coming up with shots wasnt working he was getting counter puncheed to easily

u seen the end result he tried to jump in with a left hook to close the range instead of Jab his way in & he dropped his right hand left his chin hanging out the rest is history

the guy should develop his Jab that is the reason Collazo hammered him with counters for walking his way in without jabbing ,he got away with it with Tzsyu

How could he develop his plan with the ref keepin on steppin in? Every time he got rhythm and the crowd going,Cortez would step in.

he should have just put it out there as a nuisance factor at least. How can you blame him though? what a random change in style it would have been.

The truth is Hatton is a limited fighter, he can't change, he's still better than Floyd if the ref lets the fight go, but Hatton can't adapt, floyd can.

Thats how Ricky was beaten. The ref took his game away and he had no other answers.

The only thing that lost hatton this fight is that his aggressiveness was numbed down by the ref. In the first few rounds he was doing what he said he would do. Use head movement and footspeed to get in and smother Mayweather. It was working slightly. That was the best I ever saw anyone get to him in a long time.

After a million warnings, the ref coming to his corner, and a point deduction where was hattons sense of urgency and aggression?

In the first few rounds he was right on Floyd like he planned but after, he started giving floyd space to punch, and thats when he started getting hit. He knew Cortez was on his ass. He knew Cortez was taking points away for BS reasons. He knew floyd knew how to milk the ref. How do you get into a rythm with all that **** on your mind.Fighting ref and opponent.

Hatton stopped coming forward the way he was and mayweather took advantage.

Now, did anyone notice that Cortez ONLY let hatton do his boxing AFTER floyd took the lead?

In the earlier rounds he was literally right in there as soon as they touched each other. In the later rounds he let hatton do his boxing more but only after he started taking punishment.

Im not taking anything away from the fight it was friggin brilliant i was literally shaking the whole fight from anticipation and excitement. But wouldnn't it have been a better fight to remember if floyd himself found a way to nullify hattons attacks instead of th ref?

Maybe he didnt look it, but maybe floyd did get to him a little bit? He had the aggression but not the thinking aggression he had with castillo.

Maybe he was feeling the pressure of carrying the hopes of all his fans in such a tough fight? He really didnt do many body shots at all but really i think thats down to mayweathers style. Most times he wanted to go to the body he got warned for hitting at the back and back of the head as mayweather turned away.

I was crying for him to jab more aswell. The bastard was walking in with his hands down and not moving his head in the end *cries* WHY RICKY WHY.

Damn good fight though. Even though my guy lost i still had a smile on my face afterwards.

Also a note on moving to the side for body shots.

Since Mayweather is turned sideways with his elbow sticking out, if ricky went to the right to hook the body hed be hitting mayweathers back which would be automatic points according to cortez.

If he went to his left hed be standing right in front of floyds right hand which he keeps free for countering these exact situations. If hatton dropped his left hand to hook floyds body, you know damn well that counter right would've been in his face quicktime.

In contrast when castillo was on the ropes before he got ko'd he was standing straight on, square with ricky which allowed him to get round the side and smash his ribs.

So in ways it was floyds style that got ricky somewhat off his usual body attack game.

I am assuming you guys are all British because Hatton was totally outclassed.

You can make all of the excuses you want but Hatton is not even in the same class as Mayweather. The thing that stopped Hatton from winning was Mayweather.
