There had been so much said before the fight about Hatton's holding by the Mayweathers and there was a lot of pressure on Cortez to make it a clean fight. The Mayweathers didn't want the same treatment that Kostya got.
The Hatton camp seemed pretty happy when Cortez was signed to this fight. Probably thought he'd let Hatton fight dirty.Comment

Oh you mean an actual fight, and not this stand a metre back punch once and run away crap.
Nah, the ref ruined it. The US commentators said as much if you listen to their commentary. It was easy for Floyd for then on in.
Cortez is a joke. (a really bad joke).
Think what you like but the ref changed the course of that match and didn't let them fight.Comment

All that and Hatton was still able to get on the inside and hold. Cortez wasn't even going to take off points he only did so when Hatton tried to punch Mayweather in the back of the head.Comment

He didn't get inside to hold until the 5th and after when Floyd started to hold too.
I'm just giving you what the US/UK commentators said. Both sets said Hatton wasn't being allowed by the ref to fight his fight.Comment

Hatton was losing last night no matter what Cortez did or didn't do.Go watch it, Floyds head flying back every 2/3 punches.
Its the injustice that gets me. Both American and British commentators were constantly commenting on Cortez about how he wasn't letting Hatton fight and how he kept getting involved.
Its not right. Hatton was done out of it.Comment

i agree. the first 4 rounds he was being a twat. at times he would step in when they weren't even clinching. i have to admit though cortez or not hatton would loseComment

The Mayweather camp had the ref paranoid, he really was desperate to split them up.
Hatton couldn't adapt and that was it. But we never got to see Floyd tested like he would've been.Comment
