    ROFL.

Wiley, I just lost every single ounce of respect that I had for you.

    Officially on my ignore list.

I thought there was a chance, that you might of man'd up after this fight... apparently not.

Well, Graham and Hatton were ecstatic with the referee choice.

      Seems odd to rewrite history.

        So now we're all winners.

But bottom line, Cortez didn't knock out Ricky Hatton.
That basically sums it up. It isn't like it went to the cards or anything.

man, give this **** a break. you act as if u have a personal beef with floyd. coretz did an excellent job. you and one other nut on here are the only two saying the ref did a bad job. cortez got on both guys and told them to fight clean. he took a point from rickY and it was fair. thank god for the rope being there or hatton may have seriouly injured p4p. "AND STILL UNDEFEATED AND P4P THE BEST IN THE WORLD, FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR"!

the refereeing wouldn't had been so hard had Hatton not be known for basing his wins off clinching, once he was faced against someone who can use his clinching against him he was KTFO, it ain't nothing personal but Ricky really only fought 1 kind of fight and it didn't take him past 10 while Floyd fought many different fights in one and cam out on top, simple as that.. 100

A lot of boxing fans are working on their Masters in rewriting history it seems like though... and not just because of tonight, pretty much because of every fight.

I have to say that I am included in this...

Obviously Cortez wasn't 100% perfect tonight, I felt he was way too involved. I thought the point deduction was right on, but all the rest of the **** was getting on my nerves.

I also said that Castillo was **** after the fight, even though I thought he would be good, but I don't consider that rewriting history, because I don't fault Castillo on his choice of opponent.

Most of this is no different that saying before a fight that Taylor would beat Pavlik... no one is rewriting history by claiming that Pavlik actually beat Taylor, they are just correcting their original assumptions.

Now to say this **** actually changed the course of the fight to the point that the wrong winner was crowned is a bunch of ****.

You are correct. Floyd won. He was supposed to win. I was impressed with Floyd's decision to stand in. It made for a good fight, in spite of the rest of it. He didn't "run." I will say that. AND, I will even go so far as to say that Hatton in some respects deserved it after seeing what he was allowed to get away with against Kostya Tszyu in Britain. From this standpoint, "what goes around comes around." And it came around.

Now I've had my say on the fight....naturally there are some sour g****s involved in my thread starter...but WE ALL KNOW there's some wine there too.

                Peace out.

From the first bell, referee Joe Cortez was on Hatton like a rash. But, in spite of the fact that Cortez tried his best to discourage Ricky Hatton's inside attack, the fight remained competitive and close right until the end. It wasn't until about round 6 that Cortez realized that Floyd was "holding" his own so he backed off and let the fight go. All throughout, Floyd consistently applied an assortment of holding, elbows, and forearms that never so much as drew a raised eyebrow from Joe Cortez. But, the first chance Cortez got to penalize Hatton he seized with glee; a disputed shot to the back of the head when Floyd turned his back. The shot barely hit Floyd who then proceeded to put on that he had been hurt. It was a flop and Cortez ate it up. Cortez changed in this fight. His performance was totally different from his handling of the Hatton-Castillo fight. Totally. It was oh so obvious that Cortez was galvanized by his chance to save American boxing from the Brits. Joe Cortez should never be allowed to ref another major fight after that shameful performance. It was worse than anything I've ever seen the much despised Jay Nady do.

But, the fix doesn't end with the ref. Floyd's knockout of Hatton in the 10th at least ended the fight on a fair basis because the judges were clearly in the tank too. The judges had Hatton winning one round at the time of the stoppage. In spite of Cortez' tampering, I had it 5 rounds for Floyd, 3 rounds for Hatton, and one even (the controversial back of the head penalty round 6 which should have been Hatton's round). It is clear that Hatton had to win the fight by KO to win at all. NO WONDER Calzaghe won't fight in America.

Did this fight enhance Floyd's prestige to "all time great" status? I'm afraid not. Defeating the undersized Ricky Hatton with the help of the ref will not compensate for his continued failure to fight true competition. Not surprisingly Mayweather announced that he is retiring to be a promoter now. With the Champion Miguel Cotto, Paul Williams, Vernon Forrest, Mosely, and Margarito out there, Floyd has announced his intention to withdraw from the game. It is a timely resignation because Floyd knows he has nowhere to go now but against THOSE boxers who represent the best in the welterweight division. Emmanuel Steward said Floyd wouldn't make those fights because they involve too much risk. Steward hit the nail right on the head. Instead, Floyd will retire undefeated and make his claim as the "greatest fighter of all time."

                  Exactly as I predicted.
                  BOXINGSCENE PLEASE BAN THIS FOOL!!

I agree with a little bit of it.

I DID have Hatton winning 3 rounds up to the stoppage.

And I felt Cortez' was a little unjust. Mayweather is just as dirty as Hatton except he does it in a slick, crafty way.

Fair play to Mayweather though. He proved his stuff. He's a monster.

I'd love to drop 70 lbs (weighing 220 at the moment) and fight him.

I thought it was a good choice but anyone who says he refereed the first half of that fight well is talking out their arse.
