It was a great showing by Khan. Fantastic for a prospect and it is another step towards big things. He should go far.
I think what Duffgun and some people say about Earl being shot is true though. Khan wouldn't of fought him if the managers didn't see something that made them think 'He's done.'.
The thing is because Earl took such a beating from Katsidis it robbed him of the confidence to be able to fire back properly. A lot of times when a boxer takes a beating like that they are simply never the same and that is what it seemed like with Earl. He just didn't have the confidence and wasn't prepared psychologically for another brutal, painful fight.
It shatters something inside mentally when you take a severe beating. It might not show up immediately with some people but I think with Earl it did. He just wasn't prepared to dig down, suck it up and come back roaring not thinking or considering any consequences. The fight with Katsidis and the beating he took will always be sitting in the back of his mind waiting to come out when he got hurt again.
It happens a lot to many, many fighters and is pretty sad when it happens to a promising young fighter. They're never the same again. Look at someone like Lacy. He will never have the same confidence he had before Calzaghe and all those punches he didn't see and counter shots he took will always be in the back of his mind whenever he throws a punch maybe expecting to get cracked with one and he will never have the same power and freedom in his fighting. It ruins fighters.
