exactly what I was going to say. I said this on another board, but most predictions for Ricky seemed to fall into one of three categories (or even a combo of all three):
- Bias for Ricky
- Bias against Floyd
- Intangibles
Some come in and cite style differences, that Hatton does such and such, and that's fine. At least the prediction is qualified with some sort of theory. But believing that Floyd didn't train as hard, or has retirement on his mind, or that Hatton's never trained harder - as you alluded to, it's all wishful thinking.
The only thing I will say regarding this news brief is that Oscar does speak from experience. If anyone's an expert in finding a million ways to distract himself before a fight, it's Oscar.Comment

Those wouldn't be "mixed interests". In both instances (as Hatton's promoter, and as a prospective future opponent) it benefits Oscar for Ricky to win.Oscar De La Hoya is standing firm on his prediction that Ricky Hatton will upset Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. De La Hoya has mixed interests in the fight. Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya's company, is the lead promoter of the event, but the former six-division champion is also making plans to fight Hatton next May - if Hatton wins or loses a competitive contest.

BTW, what's up with Oscar wanting to fight all these little guys?Comment
