Those guys dont have a choice.

Not exactly many white collar jobs in Michigan. And for that matter, blue collar jobs either.

Not now. 30-50 years ago, there were tons of blue collar union jobs.

Michigan, and Detroit in particular, was a good economic place for blacks before the auto business went bust.

The southerners moved up there for good-paying jobs on the auto assembly lines. The poverty was MUCH worse in the Jim Crow South.

Not being American, I have somewhet limited knowledge here. If I'm wrong, please correct me.
