OK I have to address this in two parts. Firstly the history is way off base. The Atlantic slave trade wasn't as simple as "white people stealing black people". In fact the slave trade took advantage of inter-tribal warfare that was taking place in West Africa, in which (black) tribes would conduct raids on other (black) tribes and commit murder and take ******. Slavery existed in Africa for millenia, long before whites sailed the Atlantic (and still exists today). Dutch traders (and later British, French, American and sundry other Europeans) took advantage of this already existing slave trade and traded ****** with such items as rum, metal and guns. Although the simplistic view is that slavery was something done to black people by white people, in reality slavery is something that has been practised by every level of society whenever one group has been more powerful than another.

The other problem I have with your statement is that it isn;t logical. Let's take colour out of this:

Person A en****** person B. Berson A has children, as does person B. Let's call them A2 and B2. A2 has not enslaved B2 because doing so would be illegal. In fact A2 has nothing to do with B2. Let's say that B2 has kids and B3 has kids and B4 has kids, now four generations seperate the family line of A and B. Does B5 have any cause for resentment against A5? These people have not met. Their only connection is a crime committed by A5's great great great grandfather.

Of course there are economic considerations and things aren't as simple as the scenario above, but that's far more accurate a representation of how things happened than your attempt.

In short slavery is wrong, racism is wrong, and everybody should stop being ****s to each other.

But, sonofsis, you cannot deny that there is a double standard (ie..Hopkins can make a racist statement without condemnation from the media and Calzaghe surely cannot). You don't deny that.
