granted I dont watch a ton of TV, but the only thing about the fight I've seen was Floyd on Jim Rome today ducking Cotto in an interview. No commercials, no nothing.Comment

No! This is absolutely nothing like Cooney / Holmes, nothing at all. Trying to find a racial angle in this (Youtube notwithstanding) is just one more way of trolling against fans of Ricky Hatton.
Seriously Doris, you need another hobby.Comment

Long story short, when Cooney was signed to fight Holmes Don King turned it into a racial battle which was further perpetuated by the U.S. media. Cooney was labeled "The Great White Hope" in the expectation of him bring the first white heavyweight champion in 22 years.
Both black and white supremacist groups got involved in the hype with each side claiming they were going to kill the other boxer. Holmes, despite being champion, was introduced first at the fight and President Reagan even had a direct line to Cooney’s dressing room in order to congratulate him after his victory.
As it turned out, Cooney’s reputation as a true contender was simply just hype and he got taken apart by Holmes. King pulled one over on the public and got even more rich.Comment

In short although one fighter is black and the other is white there is very little to compare the build ups between the two. In fact the only guy to use the N word is that black fighter who used it in a terribly misguided Youtube vid.Comment
