    Chad Dawson's situation is fustrating

The guy is incredibly talented. I see flashes of RJJ and old Bhop when i watch him squab. He aint bad looking either (no ****). I hope this dude gets a shot at a big name without having to resort to the typical loudmouth arrogant trash talking some other fighters resorted to get some shine.

Any news on whether the WBC will strip him for ducking Diaconu?

They're trying to work something out in order to allow the Dawson-Johnson fight in April. It might require step-aside money for Diaconu, or even fighting for one of those funky interim titles.

The biggest problem, though - and I say this as a big-time Chad Dawson fan - is that he's not yet at the point where it pays to wait around for him. Diaconu can probably force the WBC to strip him, and have his promoter win the purse bid to stage a vacant title match in Montreal. He'd probably make just as much, if not more, as he would if he were to fight Dawson on Showtime.

As active as Dawson is, though, there's really no reason why a Dawson-Diaconu fight can't happen between now and the potential Johnson fight. I mean, there's no reason why the latter MUST happen on April 12. Make this fight, and if/when Dawson wins, fight Johnson in late April/early May.

He has tried to duck Diaconu for ages, first by trying to side-step him for shot Tarver, then, when Tarver ducked him, and Diaconu ducked him because of injury, he tried to get the WBC to recognise Mendoza as his mandatory...then, when WBC didn't play ball and reconfirmed Diaconu as his mandatory, Dawson tried to postpone the fight till the autumn of 2008. WBC said no again, saying he had to fight Diaconu by the 25th of April, but allowed Dawson to fight a voluntary by the 25th of January. Dawson however elected to fight Johnson on the 12th of April...so heis ducking Diaconu.
