These thread isnt about Bashing Wlad..I actually like him but the guy has a Glass chin period..he also has heart and a good boxing brain, His also the best that we have at the moment but the man has a glass chin..Nothing to cry like a baby over it, He has been KTFO 3 times by mediocre boxers in purrity,Sanders and brewster...Even the one-dimensional sam peter knock him down 3 times from just grazing his chin.

All those fighters i mentioned were punchers Mason had 35 wins and 32 KO's i believe.

Bruno was also a massive puncher.

And how can you say old Mercer ?? he started late in his pro career but prior to Lewis fight he gave Holyfield all he could handle.

The point i was making was that Lewis took flush shots off big punchers and if he had a glass chin he wouldn't of won any of those fights i mentioned.

I dont think his chin is made of glass.. he has taken some big punches and not gone down(see round 4 VS Sam Peter when Peter lands a HUGE overhand right..his best punch of the night.. for a prime example)..

He rarely gets HIT.. and that makes it harder to build a resistance and get past the SHOCK of getting hit when you do...

Wlads Chin problems are more mental than Physical... As much as I like the guy... You can't shake the feeling that he is one Punch away from disaster..
I agree with your post, Wlad has an average chin, but he makes up for it with a big heart.

Wlad legs are the problem, his legs are somewhat skinny for a man his size and he kind of loses his legs when he gets rocked, it's also a mental psychological problem. Wlad showed bigtime heart in the Peter fight, he was actually only really knocked down Once, Wlad took a huge powerful flush left hook from Peter in the 12th round and he wasn't phased, he came back seconds later with a monster left hook that put Peter out on his feet. Wlad's chin isn't that bad.

Wlad has been down over 10 times, i agree Wladimir has a big heart but he has a weak chin.

I agree 2 of those KD's were illegal and should NOT have counted...

I also say Wlad's Chin problems are of a Mental nature.. AND you are right .. he has changed his style to compensate for it...

I think his Offensive arsenal mixed with size and athleticisim make him one of the best HW boxers ever.. BUT as long as the Chin Myth remains... he will never get the respect he deserves..He needs to take a BIG punch a few times and STAY ON HIS FEET.. It also dont help that he is White and NON American...

If Wlad had a weak chin he would have been legitimitely KO'd(like Lewis), the knockdowns are from psychological problems and the legs. It's too bad Wlad wasn't born with an iron chin like his brother Vitali, but it dosen't matter because Wlad has the heart, strength, skill, intelligence and power to be the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

Good thing Wlad won every other round and the "knockdowns" didn't matter.

To be honest, Wlad's vulnerability makes him more exciting to me. I mean, why watch a fight if you know the outcome. And with Wlad's offense with both hands, you would know the outcome, if it weren't for questions about his chin.

If he had a CHIN he would be TOO good.. You are right I am always on the edge of my seat when I watch this guy... You are almost guaranteed a KO..

Which makes it all the more puzzling why KO mad Americans dont like this guy..

He also was the undisputed champion while at 37, and himself claimed he gets better with age like wine. Plus these days age doesnt make too much of a difference especially when fighters are taking care of themselves. For instance look at Hopkins, Wright, Maskaev, Calzaghe. These guys are 36, 38, 40+ years of age and are still at the top of their game.

Lennox Lewis got very lucky that he cut Vitali's eye, because with that damaged vision Vitali still managed to win rounds so imagine him with clear vision and no blood flowing down the face. Smart thing that Lewis retired, because we would've saw what would've happened in the rematch when the cut would not have been an issue.

Lennox Lewis is an all time great, but he ran into someone who I believe had his number, so he made the smartest decision of his life. Pride I guess is more important for Lewis, because he passed up at 20+ million rematch with Vitali.
